First off, if your cat is just peeing on the mat, is it really that big of a problem that you need to get rid of her? If she was urinating all over the house I could understand, but come on!! if its not plastic get a plastic one so you can easily clean it! There are many reasons why a cat won't use the litter box, your cleaning it daily that's a great start! You will also want to try a few more things. Take the top off the litter box, my large female cat won't use the enclosed box because she's big and I think she feels confined. Also try changing the litter, try Swheat Scoop, its made of wheat, its scoopable and flushable and its completely safe for cats. Some cats don't like the dust that clay litter put up. Also your cat may have a urinary tract infection. Try the other things and if its still not working get a urinalysis done. Just so you know, if you try and re home a cat that has that sort of problem, you most likely won't find a home and also the shelters won't adopt out a cat that has any urinary issues. So if you do get rid of your cat, you are basically killing it. My friend has a cat that urinates all over her house, now I understand when she says she can't keep her, but seriously, urinating on a mat? If you can't handle that and end up getting rid of your cat, please don't ever get another animal!!

Hard to break a cat of stuff like that, try taking the matt away, or taking the top off the box. Try a different type of litter. You may even put some tin foil in front of the box, cats don't like stepping on that. Did anything change recently in your life? Move, got married, got another pet etc. Cat's don't do change well.

I don't really know. I have a cat that my family has been taking care of for about the last 2 months. It is about 7 years old and has taken to the habit of missing the litter box and going on the floor and walls next to it... we have an open liter box so I don't know if getting one of those will help much.

If she's very large, she may not fit inside the enclosure. Try taking the top off and see if she'll use it then. Do you have an enclosure because she flings litter? I suggest using one of those large Rubbermaid bins as a litter box. My aunt has one for her cat who also refuses to use an enclosed litter box yet flings litter everywhere.

You might check the cat litter you are using. Some cats don't like the texture or the perfumes used to mask the odors so they won't use the box. Try switching brands of cat litter to see if that helps.

My vet told me that cats only urinate outside of the litter box for 2 reasons. 1) Medical Issues such as bladder infections, kidney stones, blockages etc. or 2) They are upset about something. What are you using to clean out the litter box. Sometimes that could cause problems. I hope that you are able to resolve this issue.

If she's never done this before, step one would be to call your vet. Sometimes a medical problem can get a cat "thinking outside the box," so to speak. If Fluffy gets a clean bill of health from the vet, ask the doctor what your next step should be and/or check out the link below.

Has the mat always been there, or is it something new? Mine will pee on any plastic bag it finds, so we can't leave anything in a plastic bag!
Did you recently change the brand of cat litter? If you're not doing anything differently than you had been, she might have a urinary tract infection. In that case, she needs to see the vet. Good Luck.

could be the cat has a urinary tract infection in which case they will not use the box because they relate the pain to the box itself. try cranberry pills the gel ones. i just slice the end off and put the contents on his food (he's male). you can also try powdered vitamin c. mine is still prone to infection. if there are health food stores near you they have books for pets that will have other treatment options. i browse sometimes to get my answers. i treat allot holistically! he is not my only pet. i just use white vinegar and water in a spray bottle to clean the area and add it to the wash as it is the only thing i have found that will kill the smell of pet urine. i have a nose like a bloodhound! this is tough, good luck

Some animals don't like the encloser, take top off and remove the mat and each time she goes on sand give her
a cat treat and a rub, good girl say.
