You would need to go to court to get a court order but I am NOT so sure private citizens can just go do that----what was the cause of death on the death certificate??? Had she been ill for a while? If you are thinking someone KILLED her, then you should take your case to the police... Autopsies are usually done when NO OTHER CAUSE OF DEATH was pre-existing--such as an illness or accident... if she was in perfect health at the time of death then by LAW there would have been an autopsy.... HAS to be to determine cause of death IF no pre-existing illness or accident is present ....

Get a copy of the death certificate. That should give the cause of death and if an Autopsy was done. You need reason other than you don't know what happened. Do you have any proof of fowl play?
Start at the hall of records in the county she died in.

Persons don't get dug up without one heck of a good reason, and you will need to get a court order to do so.
Assuming that you actually have a good reason to suspect something other than natural causes, I'd suggest you check for a lawyer who offers a free consultation. That isn't an issue of you needing representation... just if you convince him/her of your reasons, then the police (etc) are more likely to hear you out.

Bodies are moved from graveyard to graveyard if the graveyard needs to move the bodies. If the bodies are from the 1800s then they probably wouldn't alert the familes (hard to find probably). But if the graveyard had more recent people buried they'd probably alert the families of the change. I don't think they have a second funeral (I know I wouldn't personally want to pay for a second funeral). Bodies just aren't disposed by the side of the road.

It would take a court order and reasonable doubt. You may need an attorney to intervene for you if cause is found to substantiate your suspicions. Good luck!

Go to the local law enforement division, they will instruct you to go to your local county attorney and than they will have your answers. It has to be a good reason though because it is very expensive.

Hi I would think that you would have to start at your local court house but you can also consult with a lawyer and he/she should know what you have to do..
