Hello, it has over 200,000 miles, but the owner says it is in "great shape" any comments? they are looking for 800.00 and I need a car to go to work in the pm. NOT my primary vehicle, but if I have a clear service record, and the major wear parts have been reparied/replaced, is this a car I should even look at? any and all comments would be welcome, after all 800 dollars is 800 dollars. thanks,

if you get it you wont be disappointed they are very nice cars and if it was taken care of it should last at least another 100k miles
and for anybody who doesnt beleive me go to dodgeintrepid.net and look at the 1st gen section

id say its a good buy
offer $500 and try to get them down to like 600-700
what engine is in it. 3.3 or 3.5 both engines are very reliable
if you do decide to get it, goto the above mentioned site. you will find alot of guys with intrepids that love their car. you wont find a nicer group of guys

If it has lasted 200,000 miles it will last who knows how many more. Your main concern would be oil pressure. Have it checked and if it acceptable, like 25 PSI or higher at idle, warm engine, then you don't need to worry about this.

There will be wear and tear issues on the transmission and suspension and steering but this is a crap shoot like everything else. Your worst worry might be the heater core at this age and mileage.

Good Luck!

I've had several with the 3.5L engine. I don't really think either the engine or the transmission will live that long. You didn't mention when they'd been rebuilt, so I would certainly ask that if I were you.

Other than that, if it drives good, it's okay to buy it. As long as you don't expect much, you'll be fine. If something breaks, sell it to the junkyard.

I'd honestly pass. that's to many miles for any car.
the engine's going to be tired, and you can expect things that you won't be expecting to happen.
