Then why is it when you have a miscarriage, you do not have a funeral for the fetus? If it is murder, when you masterbate, is that murder? Because I throw those little bastards in the toilet when I am done. Many physicians and medical researchers believe that fetuses can begin to feel pain sometime during the third trimester. This is long after Essentially all miscarriages occur, Ectopic pregnancies have been dealt with, and After about 99% of abortions are performed. If the mom doesn't want the kid or can't provide for it, would it really be better off in a foster home where no one would give a **** about it? For those that say the morning after pill is murder, all it does is stop the egg from attaching to the uterus, an embryo never has time to form, so even if an embryo was a human (which it isn't and it can't feel a damned thing) it wouldn't be "murder" since life never started in the first place. Also, most people against abortion are for the death penalty, how does that work out?

osborne_pkg - actually, she can give her organs away if she wants, called an organ doner card. And you miss the whole point, it is NOT a baby, and when you feel it kick, it is much much further down the road that the first trimester. When this happens it is the final trimester. We are talking about abortion in the FIRST trimester. And you can't tell the sex of the fetus before implantation...were do you get this info from??? and the entire nervous system is NOT intact withing 20 days. Around the 18th week is when the nervous system forms....almost all of your info is incorrect. And you obviously have not looking into any kind of scientific research were it says it isn't considered a "baby" until it is born and it can not feel anything until the late 2nd or early 3rd trimester.

Abortion is not "murder" for the simple reason that "murder" is determined by trial. It is a legal term. If there is no trial, a person cannot be a "murderer" "Killer", yes, "murderer", no.
As for the procedure, it is certainly egregious that people make such a fuss over "the sacredness of life' yet we have people like Britney Spears making mockery of motherhood, and sadly neglecting the innocent children she brought into the world. Something is wrong when people who sensibly opt to nip the process in the bud are vilified, and people who insist on keeping their offspring only to neglect and abuse them get the ol' "blind eye" turned towards their situation, yet this is what people are advocating. It's easy to be sanctimonious about the "sacredness of life" when it's not you that has to raise the kid! And puh-leaze...how "sacred" can life be when most of our entertainment consists of the maiming and killing of our fellow human beings, and the Earth itself is choking to death on the poisons we are pouring into it every day! And what about all this WAR? Nuclear weapons? Biological and chemcal warfare? "Sacredness of Life? Give. Me. A. BREAK.

Original answer:
Funerals are generally for the family, not for the deceased. Some families do hold memorial services for stillborn children, for miscarriages, etc. To suppose that is does not happen is ignorance, and probably part of a gotcha game on your part.
At what point during masterbation does the sperm and the egg get together? They don't? So, I guess that isn't murder huh?
Most physicians and medical researchers have reached the concensus that a fetus feels pain around 20 weeks, during the second trimester, NOT the 3rd.
I know many foster parents. The ones I know care deeply for the children. That is why they want them.
Personally, my mind is not made up about the morning after pill. I can see both sides. From what I understand about the trip the sperm makes, the voyage takes quite a while, several hours or so. I am not convinced the morning after pill is the equivelent of abortion.
Death penalty is easy. Jeffery Dahmer killed and consumed human beings. He was guilty. He deserved to die.
Human babies have not killed, and are guiltless.
That's how that works out.

Most of those who support the pro life movement are simply there for the money. It is a fact that most of the pro lifers are Christians that follow a rigid view of a money hungry preacher and not the Bible or the acts of Jesus. It is a fact that abortion was invented by God and is used every day in the form of miscarriage. Those who believe that abortion is murder would have to believe that God is a murderer. There is nothing in the Bible that supports the pro life view and much that supports the pro choice view.
Often cited sections of the Bible are those that say that murder is a sin and statements that God knew a person in the womb. What is rarely admitted is that God aborts more than 50% of the eggs that he creates. And God in the Bible gives over 300 expressions that show an example of murder. Not one of the expressions describes abortion. It is clear that Abortion is not murder and it is clear that knowing a fetus in the womb does not stop God from aborting the fetus.
God reveals in the Bible what the responsibility of a Christian is with regard to his fellow man. Christians are to help the poor and love their neighbor. No where in the Bible does it say that Christians are to stop God's abortions.
It is a fact that 100 million children need to be adopted by Christians, yet they do not adopt these children as the Bible requires. 10 million children will die from lack of medical care. And the response of the Christian community is insufficient. And it is a fact that for each fetus that is "saved" by the pro life movement, 12 loved and wanted children die.
The only thing the pro life movement does with gusto is raise money. And that money is not used to save lives, it is used to cause death.
One must ask "what are these Christians thinking". How can someone that professes to love his neighbor cause the death of a loved child while trying to save an unwanted fetus?

A miscarriage is a very sad and painful experience, and the parents of the lost child -- and often siblings and grandparents -- really do grieve. Funerals aren't done because miscarriages often happen over several days' time, and it is impractical and painful to expect the woman suffering a miscarriage to "piece together" the remains of her dead child. Later on, when the baby is larger and generally expelled all at once, funerals for stillborn babies most certainly are done.
Masterbation isn't murder because the egg and sperm have not united to form a new human being yet.
There is evidence of fetal pain well before the third trimester, but that doesn't really matter. What matters is if the human fetus is displaying signs of life, and the human fetus most certainly does: consumption of oxygen/nutrients and cell generation. That's a scientific definition of life and it's present as soon as the egg and sperm unite and a new human is formed. If you don't LIKE those facts, well, nobody asked you to like them, but there they are.
If the mother doesn't want the child and can't provide for it, there is always adoption -- not just foster care -- or getting assistance until she can get on her feet again. But she should also consider these facts before she willfully engages in the action that makes babies. People who really don't want babies shouldn't be putting themselves in the position to conceive babies.
The abortion pill does NOT prevent an "egg" from implanting in the side of a uterus. The egg won't and can't implant. Only a zygote -- the new human being formed when an egg and sperm unite -- can implant. You seem to be carefully ignoring the biological FACTS here. Why?
Human embryos are human beings. They are 100% human in their DNA -- not like they are rocks or chickens or baby whales or plants. And they meet the scientific definition of life, meaning consumption and cell generation. It doesn't really matter if they can feel a damned thing or not -- they are scientifically human and scientifically alive...even though you don't want that to be true for some reason.
I'm opposed to abortion AND opposed to the death penalty AND opposed to war and euthanasia and all other forms of legalized murder. I think people who are opposed to abortion and in favor of the death penalty reason that the death penalty is okay for convicted murderers, but it's not okay for innocent humans. I may not agree with them 100%, but that makes a heckuva lot more sense than people like Hilary Clinton who say it's perfectly okay to kill an innocent human being through abortion but NOT okay to kill a convicted criminal. How does THAT work out?
P.S. You sound like one of those guys who knocked up a girl and then insisted she get an abortion and then wonders why she's still feeing upset about losing her baby. If that's what happened to you, you have my sympathies.

There is no correlation with masturbation (although it is also a sin) and abortion. The morning after pill is considered abortive because an embryo is already a human being.
The Fifth Commandment is "You shall not kill." Abortion is the act of killing an unborn child. From the very first moment of their existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person. You did not become a person the moment you were born, you became a person the instant you were conceived. This is most clearly pointed out in Luke 1:39-44:

When a dog is pregnant, is there any question about the fact that she's carrying small, undeveloped dogs, who are too young to survive outside her body? No...she's not just carrying cell groupings that, when born, suddenly become puppies.
It's exactly the same for humans. A fetus is a human that can't survive outside is mother and depends on her for food, but it is a separate being- the baby's and the mother's blood doesn't mix. There is no difference between a newborn and an embryo except that they look different, and that one of them can't be seen or heard.

No abortion is not murder if done soon enough during the first trimester.. .. The fetus can not live outside the uterus even with major medical intervention..
Late term abortions I believe are murder (excluding those done for medical reasons) I consider late term anything in the 3rd trimester.. The infant can easily with only minor medical intervention live outside the uterus in most cases..
For me the second trimester is a gray shady area I am still formulating my opinion on that time.. As medical science improves my thoughts on this period of gestation change..

I am pro choice, but let me say this.
Why are you under the impression that living things must feel pain in order for it to be murder?
It's a fine line. When Scott Peterson offed Lacie Peterson, is what he did to their baby murder?
Additionally, I am sure that most people agree that masturbation is not murder because there is no fertilization. With only 1/2 of the equation (the sperm or the egg) there is not a human single celled organism.

Some people do have funerals for their fetus. Look, life is either sacred or it is not. If it is, preserve it at all costs. If it is not, we might as well destroy it at will. It is terribly expensive to keep the sick alive and wholly impractical to prolong the life of an ill person who will die anyway.
No civilized person or society, however, considers expense and practicality to be more important than goodness and humanity. If it did, it would immediately wipe out, for example, drug addicts, the homeless and people with AIDS.
The proposition that abortion is acceptable because a woman can do what she likes with her own body is absurd. The inherent assumption is flawed, in that a woman cannot do what she wants with her body. She cannot, for example, sell her organs for transplant purposes or obstruct the public way.
Further, the argument is not about what she can or cannot do with her own body because it is not just her body that is involved. Within her is an unborn child, unique at conception and a distinct character and soul. If the contents of her womb were mere tissue, there would be no discussion.
But no mother ever tells people with delight that she "felt the tissue kick today" or announces that she has chosen a name for her tissue. Nor does she speak of her "fetus." It's a baby. It is referred to as a fetus by pro-abortionists because it's easier to kill what one has dehumanized.
We invariably hear people who favour what they describe as "choice" say they would prefer there to be fewer abortions. Yet if abortion is merely the removal of tissue without any moral or emotional consequences there is no reason for there to be fewer of them.
We deny, we disguise, we kill. Clearly, it is a life. A life whose sex can be determined even before implantation, a life which at 17 days has its own blood cells, which two days later is developing eyes and the day after has an entire nervous system established.
A life that at 28 days is forming arms and legs, at 30 days is developing ears and nose and at 49 days is a miniature person with complete fingers and toes.
So convinced are we now that this is a genuine life that in Britain some pro-abortion doctors want anesthetic to be administered to unborn babies before the procedure. In Canada, as well as other countries, medics who object to performing abortions risk losing their jobs. Several have already paid that price.
This has nothing to do with so-called unwanted babies. There are legions of couples who want to adopt children. Even if there weren't, we still do not have the right to take an innocent life simply because we are larger and more powerful. That is the style of the thug and the fascist.
Nor is there a population problem. In fact, Europe and North America have a crisis of under-population. Where starvation occurs, it is the fault of the greedy West rather than the over-populated developing world. Again, even if there were a problem, it would not give us the right to kill.
We have to provide care and help for mothers in need and guarantee community support for children from conception to birth to adulthood to death. We have to know that the human person, which should be at its safest in the womb, is now, obscenely, at its most vulnerable.
