Well I am just about blind or so it seems. My eyes have gotten progressively worse. At 48 I am now a -10. in one eye and a -9.50 in the other. I don't know how bad it can get but I sure hope it stops soon!

I hit -14.00 in the worst meridian of my worst eye.

I've made glassses up to -22.00 and +16.00
A bit higher in contact lenses.

Those won't be record-breaking amounts, but much higher than that, +or -, the eye usually has other problems.

But eyes don't anything like always get progressively worse over time.
A young myope facing stronger glasses every year or even six months might feel that way, but that is just *soooo* teenage thinking... The teenager is not the whole world, except to the teenager.

My son was born premature and only has vision in the left eye. It has been a long 18 years but today he is at a -29!! The doc says he needs lens replacement....not much you can do to correct myopia that bad. Afraid of retina detachment, glaucoma and other problems without surgery but my son is scared of losing the only eyesight he has:(

Desirada, I'm also 48 and I was told that my nearsightedness would get less due to amblyopia. However, I've noticed that I have not lost my ability to see close up but my nearsightedness seems to be getting worse.
