Can you picture helicopters going into attack playing a hard driving rock or heavy metal song. If you can what song would that be and is there a link to a sample so I can hear it
If you dont want to answer the question and want to do socialist commentary please skip my question
I have a picture in my mind of US helicopters going to attack and I was wondering what hard driving morale booster song would they play
A friend suggested a german metal band Reichstag I think that was the name
Anyway I want to hear what you think would be a hard driving song that lifts the spirits of our warriors

Pantera> anything from Cowboys from Hell, Metallica> anything from the black album(enter sandman), Hank Jr. > Any, It really depends on the soldiers likes. Playing a song that doesn't appeal to even one of them will distress the whole group.

You're probably thinking of the "RIde Of The Valkyries", which was the song that they played in the movie "Apocalypse Now" when the Gunships roll into the VC village.
I remember we played "Eye Of The Tiger" when we first rolled into Iraq in 2003 and "Rock You Like A Hurricane" when we got to Baghdad.
I'm a big product of the 80s, so my preference on music still evolves aroudn Heavy Metal, and Big Hair Rock. XD
But my choices would be:
"Sway" - Coal Chamber
"Out Of My Way" - Seether
"Of Wolf And Men" - Metallica
"Wherever I May Roam" - Metallica
"Angel Of Death" - Slayer

Flew hueys in Vietnam and we would tune in armed forces radio on the ADF. Automatic direction finder. Listened to Hendrix, Joplin, Cream, Stones, Byrds whatever they were playing in our flight helmets. Didn't have Robin Williams yelling, "Gooooood mornin' Vietnam" though.
One song I remember clearly as we were descending into a hot LZ near Cu Chi one day was by Country Joe and the Fish.
Well it's one, two, three what are we fightin' for,
Don't know and don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam,
Well it's five, six, seven open up the pearly gates,
Don't know why, it's time to cry,
Whoopie we're all gonna die.

I know me personally, I don't fly helicopters into attack, I go on convoys on the road. Then again, being on the road is ALOT more dangerous than being in the air anyway. BUT, I actually don't listen to any crazy stuff when I'm getting ready to roll. I listen to soothing stuff, some R&B, some R Kelly, some Ginuwine, some Boyz II Men, some calming soothing music. Your adrenaline is already pumping trust me, you don't need music to do that for you! But the song that I've heard is one of the more popular ones to "get psyched up" with is "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor", I can't remember who does that song. But crazy stuff like that is what some people like to listen to supposedly. Me, I prefer calm stuff, even some "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" or "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" or stuff like that. For some reason calm music gets me in my mindset, I can concentrate more, especially when I'm the one commanding the convoy:)

Obviously somebody made the mistake of letting you see the chopper clip from "Apocalypse Now"
Or the Donald Sutherland "Oddball" clip with tanks mounting loudspeakers in "Kelly Hero's".
You really think troops in combat have time to listen to music??
Its war Baby not a drive by shooting!!!
