"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 7:12)

As you can see, it does not say, "In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, unless they arn't Christians, for this is the Law and the Prophets."

How come I don't see any Christians putting this piece of scripture into practice??? It seems to me that they treat anyone who doesn't believe as they do quite badly.

"How come I don't see any Christians..." Why do you generalize? I am a Christian, but I will show you respect no matter what your belief is. Do unto others as you want done unto you. I live by this and I believe everyone should. Everybody deserves respect. Another teaching of Jesus is to love thy neighbor as you love yourself. Also, hate the sin not the sinner. These are great teachiings that I strive to live by. It's not always easy, but I am only human. I will treat everyone with respect that I encounter in my life.

I am extremely offended by that comment. You can't say that there aren't any Christian following that. Myself and my entire church love everyone. We believe in being especially kind to the people who are sick, down hearted or don't know Christ. Also you might want to do a little research because that's not the only or the most important place that statement was made, Christ says in the gospels that to love one another as he has loved us is the most important thing we can do. So any christian that does love needs to take a good long look in the mirror. And while your accusing, have you looked at yourself, how do you treat others? If you don't treat others any better why are you so worried about Christian. Scripture says "why r u trying to pluck the splinter out of your brothers eye when you have a plank in yours, why not first get the plank out of your own eye then you can see clearly to help your brother." Feel free to email me if you have and replys.

God Bless You

Not every one is perfect, we all make mistakes, Even us Christians. However, I know lots of people who do treat every one like they are all the same, whether enemies, friends, adults, teacher, bosses....they all should be treated with respect. Even though you may not like them as much as someone else, doesn't mean God thinks the same way. He loves every one , and if we love Him, we should love every one esle. Take a closer look at the other Christians around you, You will see that not all of them fit in the catagory you have placed them in.

They don't treat us better back so we have teach them a lesson that they might follow the rules of Matthew 7:12. When we treat them nice so must they or else face the music. I don't know about other Christian but that is my interpretion of Matthew 7.12

And you've never treated anyone in a shabby manner in your life? It is always a good laugh for an atheist to try and use a quote from a book the central figure of they don't believe in anyway. How goofy is that?

booya.... Unfortunately, Christians are still humans and of all different personalities, moods, and maturity. :)

I am not saying that that excuses any of us, However, I am saying that we ALL need to find tolerance for each other and not generalize one group as being "bad" by the actions of one person or one "occasion"

Peace be with you :)

***You know...one thing I am uncomfortable with here in Y&A is when a question has me find the words to say how good a person I am....It feels wrong to do so...I am more comfotable praising others than myself.... I err just as anyone else does when tired, overworked, ill, menopausing, pmsing, or when I failed to pray or be with the Lord right away...and, I see people here as no different then myself, so, I forgive as I hope they do me. Fair enough?

Jesus also said in Mathew that we are to live by the ten commandments and one other he gave us,that we love our neighbor(That's not just our brothers and sisters in Christ)That means everyone.
This is the hardest of all the Commandments to live by.People in a disaster come together regardless of race or believes, that is basically true. That`s when you see the true spirit of caring and love. But one on one in our daily lives we sometimes forget that this is still what we`re suppose to do.

That is incorrect, not all Christians do that, I for one am not one that mistreats ppl, or forces anything down anyones throat, I am a Union Construction worker and I work around alot of unsaved ppl and I dont talk about my Lord unless someone brings the subject up, I just let my light shine and share the word when I can, and the woman that I am in love with is not a living Christian, she believes but does not live it and I dont push it down her throat nor do I judge anyone, I realize that ppl need Jesus, and I will share that with ppl who want to hear but if they do not want to hear about Him and His love, then it does no good for me to talk to them.. God Bless YOu

Nobody is perfect. There are some Christians who need to work on improving their lifestyle. However there are plenty of Christians who are following God's word. If you are in the company of those who don't, I would find another church home or try to do what you can to change those around you.

Just because you live in a chicken coop doesn't mean you're a chicken...maybe you should find a different group of Christians to hang out with. The Bible says that you'll know them by their fruits and it looks to me like the ones you're talking about don't have very Christian-like fruits.
