leave it alone. it will eventually heal. when i get a cat scratch, i just let it heal on it's own. if you keep touching it, it will make the cut redder and it will heal a lot slower. let it alone, and it will heal in about two days. hope this helps! feel better soon!!

Peroxide "eats" the healing part of the skin.
Only use it right after an injury, then stick with Neosporin.
Alcohol is a irritant, it may be the cause of the redness.
Ditto oatmeal soap, fragrance and other ingredients can irritate broken skin and create redness.
It's only been a week.
Unless you are running a fever, or there are streaks of red coming from the injury (sign of blood poisioning), you're fine.
Aloe (ONLY FROM A HEALTH FOOD STORE!!) with no fragrance is good to put on.
So is Vitamine E oil. Beware though, certain individuals will react to it and create double the scaring.

It will take some time. Use providine iodine (over the counter) for three days to disinfect & dry the wound out. Then use the neosporin twice daily. Bactroban 2% (mupirocin ointment) is better than neosporin but you'll need a prescription from your Dr. for it. Just call your Dr. office & ask to talk to his nurse. Explain what happened & ask them to call a priscription to your pharmacy for a small tube (15 grams ) of Bactroban. If the wound isn't looking better within about 7 days its infected and you need an antibotic. Hope this helps

Really all you need to do is wash it thoroughly with antibacterial soap, apply some neosporin on it twice a day and put a band aid on it. They should heal within a couple weeks. If they are starting to look worse you need to see a doctor because it could be infected. Everything you are doing is causing more harm than good.

Cat scratches are some of the nastiest you can get. Your best bet is to rinse with peroxide until no more bubbles, soak in betadine (you can buy it at most places in the first aid section) One tablesppon to 6 cups water for 5 mins., then apply Neosporin. Keep open to the air. Do this one or twice a day.

If the scratches are new, then get an antibiotic cream from the drugstore and use that to prevent an infection. After that, the normal healing process will just have to occur. Use your vitamin E cream to soften and prevent scarring, but bottom line is you just have to let them heal.

Oh,yes,Paul is right about the Bactroban.I had to use it on a dog bite, and it worked wonders, and the rest I saved and used on scratches and they healed amazingly fast. It's really great stuff!
