Silly question. Either bathe the dog regularly or don't let it sleep in your room. Simple.

There are a lot of contributing factors to doggy funk.
number uno is diet! a low grade commercial diet consists of items that dogs cannot digest (ie Yellow corn) This causes noxious farts, and a continuous funk on their coat.
Aside from feeding a higher quality diet you can add pumpkin and plain yogurt to their kibbles. This will help de stink their gas and control the funk a little. If you would like to rid yourself of dog funk period, look up the Biologically Appropriate Raw Food Diet on the web. It's not for everyone, but what a difference!!
Second, you can bathe the dog more often. Be sure to use a gentle shampoo if you do this. I suggest a baby shampoo. You don't want to dry out their coat. That leads to all kinds of new problems.
Third, Wash your sheets weekly. If the funk is really bad, you may have to wash them twice a week.
finally, Spray down the room with a weak solution of white vinegar and water daily. Sprinkle Baking powder carpet cleaner once a week and vacuum.

The first thing I would suggest is bathing the dog, along with washing everything in the room. As a quick remedy, you could use an odor neutralizer. I bought some at Home Depot, I can't remember the name, but I sprayed it in the air at a rental property I had where the tenant had 20 cats, and in minutes the smell disappeared ( although I can't say for how long).

You actually should not bathe your dog as often as everyone is saying, it can lead to worse smells and is not good for the dogs coat or skin. Changing his diet is a good start, yes wash your bedding( and his if he has anything else he sleeps on), spray with odoban (you can buy it at walmart) it neutralizes odors better than anything else I've tried, also at walmart in the dog aisle is this brush you can buy and put "doggie perfume" in I don't remember what brand it is(the only one they carry) but it works wonders I brush my dogs/cats daily to help keep them clean and smelling fresh. It's not a strong smell just a light pleasent scent. Also be sure your dog is getting enough water. Hope this helps.

If you can not handle your dog having free reign of your house then don't give it to her. Get her a dog pillow and place it in the kitchen, bathroom, or any room and put a baby gate up so she cant get out. I don't know how her getting on the couch stinks it up if she is bathed regularly. You can also by dog freshening spray to spray her between baths or rub a dryer sheet on her and make her smell better.

Do not follow these directions if your dog is a hunting dog.
Wash your dog; and your bedding.
Buy some
cedar chips
( you can find them in the pet department of Wal-mart) and fill and old pillow case. This will be your dogs pillow and your room will smell clean and fresh without spraying chemicals around.

Use febreeze/disinfectant spray/air freshener. You may have to wash your bedding more often than you normally do or you may consider giving your dog a bath more frequently. My dog does the same thing to my room and thats basically all you can do unless youre hell bent on keeping them out of your room - which may be hard if they really want in.

My dogs sleep with me. No odor. I wash my bedding often. My dogs don't stink. They get good food. You should not wash your dog on a weekly basis. Maybe every couple of months. I only bath my dogs when they need it. For example ... rolling in something dead.
Do NOT feed your dogs anything from a grocery store, no Hills Science Diet and definitely NOT Iams or Eukanuba.

It's OK to wash your dog up to once a week but every two weeks is better. Feeding better food is the best way to improve your dogs health which will help skin condition thereby eliminating the smell. Dogs in good condition won't have any smell at all.

I would wash the dog, wash your sheets, and possibly consider giving a different type of food. I wouldn't advise using something like Febreeze or a spray to freshen the room. A dog may not like it.

How about bathing your dog on a regular basis? I allow my dog to sleep with me...but he gets a bath at least once a week. Clean your room on a regular...change your linens, spary febreeze on your bed and curtains. Use a carpet refreshing powder before you vacuum. This really isn't a hard problem. The alternative is, of course, to not allow the dog in your room. :/
