No trick. It was an absolutely enormous test of Abraham's faith and love for which Abraham is still being rewarded through his descendants. God wants our hearts -- fully and entirely....half measures will not do. However, God will not ever be outdone in generosity -- and so God made Abraham great:
"because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18 and through your offspring [b] all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me." (GEN 22:16b-18)

This has always been a hard story for me to understand too. But you have to realize there is a big difference between trick and test. This was a test. Abraham was more loyal to God than to his own son. He passed the test...he didn't outwit the trick.
God doesn't trick us...ever. Remember too, God gave His Son for us. Abraham is considered the father of the Hebrews. He was willing to give his son as a sacrifice. God gave His only Son for a sacrifice. See the correlation?

It was not no. Abraham knew that God had promised that he would have as many children as the stars. He knew if he where to kill him as God asked that God himself would have to bring him back to life to fulfill his promise. It was not a test of faith to see if he would kill his son for YHVA but a test to see if he believed God would always do what he said he would, keep his promise so to speak. In following through with the act Abraham acted out what would happen years later when Jesus the son of God died. In a way it was a prophecy. The hill that Abraham did this on was the same hill that Jesus died on. I will let you go and look to see what Abraham called that hill. Also the elevation of the hill is 777 feet above sea level. Notice as well in the story When Isac asked Abraham where the sheep was for the offering Abraham said God HIMSELF will provide the lamb. Not God will provide the lamb GOD HIMSELF. everything down to the place it happened was a foreshadowing of the sacrifice for sin that God himself would pay for man kind.
It was not a trick it was a well planed out foreshadowing of Jesus' death for man. :) there are allot of similarities in the story read it and see how many you can find its a great study.
God bless

No God didnt trick him(abraham), God was testing his faith, but abraham knew somehow that God wouldnt take his son from him. because when abraham went up to the mountain with the kid he told the servents "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you." so he knew he was coming back with his kid.
God bless.

God did not TRICK Abraham. God tested Abraham's FAITH in Him. Abraham loved his son very much, but did not hesitate to follow God’s words for he was a man whose faith in God was strong.
It is hard for you to understand that is was a trick because it was not a trick!

Trick or test, asking someone to sacrifice their son to demonstrate their loyalty is not the action of someone worth following, even if one happens to believe they exist.
A while ago I asked would christians kill their own sons if God commanded it. Everyone denied that he would ask them, saying that asking someone to do that is not the action of a loving god, but more likely from the devil.

he tested him but He knew Abraham would do it and never really had any intention for murder. Did you know that a law school in California tried G-d for this event and found he didn't have the requisite intent becaue he knew he would stop Abraham.

As God's children He does test us. Yes, God is all-knowing. He did not test Abraham because He was unsure of Abraham's great faith. But when we are tried / tested we see for ourselves "are we what we profess?" If we truly love the Lord we will be obedient even when it seems more advantageous not to ( as Abraham ) and through the testings our faith will become stronger and stronger.
