Every year about this time, my eyes start to itch like crazy, along with my ears and throat. But mostly my eyes. It drives me insane beacuse eye drops make it worse! I also get sneeze attacks. Why? Is it hay fever, and what is an in expensive way to deal with this? I don't have health insurance, so over the counter stuff is the route I have to go. I just don't know what to buy. I have been taking my kids over the counter allergy medcine.

Allergies are frustrating. When sneezing and watery eyes start for me, I start taking an over-the-counter store brand combination of decongestant and anihistimine. I also have a air filter/ionizer in my bedroom. It is important for me to keep the air in my bedroom as filtered as possible in order to get a good night's sleep in order to face all of the allergens that I will encounter during the day until the allergy season is over.

I suggest you take care of the root of the problem. Many allergies are caused by your immune system not being up to par. Try some Quercetin, a natural suppliment that helps with allergies. You can get it in the health food store. Take at least 500mg. once a day until you feel better. Also try to eat better foods; fresh veggies, fruits and limit junk.

Try netipot, it is an Indian Sinus cleanse, that involves pouring saltwater through your nostrils. It cleans out your nasal cavity and really helps the allergies.

Probably allergic to ragweed. it is so prevelant this time of year but only allergy testing would tell you for sure. something like psuedphed(?) would work good. anihistimines like benadryl work but they can make you tired. the only problem with taking medicines geared for kids is the dosage size, they aren't enough for an adult.

Try Claritin, be patient with it though as it takes time for it to build up in your system.
