When people think of charity, they always think of money. What of giving of ourselves? In that case, yes, indeed, charity begins at home. We must give to those we love before we can give to those who have no one to love them. If we neglect our family, then they will become as needy as those to whom we have already given our charity.
We must set our own houses in order before we take care of others in the Universe.

I believe that is where charity is taught, and it is never too early to teach children about the joy of giving. Of course it must not end there, as even the most evil of people often take care of their own. The true lesson is that love of your fellow man is the greatest gift you can give.

yes, although usually it is much harder because the people you know that have problems you usually know that their problems are of their own making and it is hard to just erase that knowledge and give them a helping hand. That's why people usually like the drive-by charity thing where they can just drop the loot and go and not know the people and get involved for real with their problems

Charity should begin at home at a young age to instill a life-long compassion for others. It is always best for parents to teach their children by example. He who hesitates has lost a golden opportunity.

Yes..it does...! (((((((Ramjet))))))) My wife complains about my helping others more than family. She says I'm like her father who did the same thing and her mother complains about it. So, I think the saying is true.

It doesn't mean you can ask your dad for cash, it means that you give from your heart where you're at, first.
