Tone of voice. My cat responds to my voice almost instantly but rarely to my wife.
What is said. I call my cat with "Spots Come" and am consistant in tone and phrasing. My wife says "Here kitty, kitty" sometimes and "Kitty come" other times, etc.

Haha.
Same thing happens with me and my husband. Except the cat only responds to me, not him. He always gets sad because I got the cat as a gift for him.
This week, I told him to call her while shaking the bag of treats, and I let him feed her more often. The treats help; she responds sometimes now.
