Why are some people so easily influenced by others.. in terms of Islam? I have noticed lately, especially some people.. who despite of being Muslims are not happy with their Muslim brothers and sisters. I KNOW that a lot of the times people tend to come off as very defensive and aggressive.. but do you agree with me when I say..
1) Not correcting a wrong is just as bad as commiting it
2) Why do people close their ears when you tell them something is forbidden.. and only want to hear about how good they are?
I'm sorry.. but I cant pat anyone on the back for doing something that is wrong, in accordance with Islam especially if they are a Muslim.
Do you agree?
Peace&Love.

Self Criticism is very important, I am not talking about judging another person Im talking about correcting them. Plus.. I would never, and I dont think anyone should correct someone on something they are doing themselves.. that is hypocricy. And that question about egypt has nothing to do with this, if you want to ask then email me.

Praise be to Allah.
Ahhh.. A very important and sensitive issue you discussed ...
But, I agree with you in every single word .. And I'll answer your question "Why do people close their ears when you tell them something is forbidden.. and only want to hear about how good they are?"
Simply it's LACK OF FAITH.
Our religion is simply based on "Hearing and Obedience", everytime I read the following verse my heart shakes very strongly as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allaah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed into a plain error”
[al-Ahzaab 33:36]
If the muslim is with good faith .. He'll directly accept the advice from anyone as long as it points towards the obedience of Allah and his Messenger (peace and Blessings of Allah be upon) ... And If the muslim is not, he won't just care ..
I ask Allah to bring the whole muslims back to his path. Ameen

Good question. They deny because they don't know the facts. Most of the subscribers here are interested in 2 points from Yahoo instead of seeking the truth. Unfortunately Muslim media is still non-existant or not so active to promote the facts about Quran or other Muslim activities. Islam is still a mystry for other faiths. What you understand and recall "the Proven scientific miracles of Quran" has not yet reached to them hence you should realize the knowledge and understanding of others before asking such questions. However I agree with your views.

I agree with you that not correcting a wrong is a bad, but we should remember that there are many differences to interpreting Islam, so we should also respect others how they interpret Islam, and which Imam will they follow.
I mean...
I might be the one of people that you meant in the second point, in some way we have some differences to see "something forbidden" and I might be still in my way although you tell me the "correct way" according what you learn about Islam.
That's why talking about it become sensitive, sometimes.
But we should stop thinking that our way is the correct one and the others is wrong. It's not our duty to judge others

I agree with you in theory. But you need to be very gentle in the way it is done otherwise you might scare people off and turn them away from Islam.
There are many different personality types in this world. Some people will react well to a quick rebuke, others will not. Some people will react well to a soft, gentle rebuke, but others will not.
You need to know the individual and what kind of personality they have to be effective in rebuking.
And in the end, if they have heard and understood what you say, but still don't agree with you, you just need to give them more time and their own space, (and if possible still be friendly with them). GOD is the only judge and he will handle it from there.

As salaamu 'alaikym warahmatullahi wabaraktuh, my sister.
Insha'Allah, you are correct however, let us always remember to correct in kindness, compassion and charity as we have been taught to do by the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him, his family and his followers) who was kind and forgiving even to those person who had slandered him, killed members of his family, tried to kill him and tired to destroy Islam.
Such practice brought many non-believers to Islam and helped to guide many believers into a truer practice.
Ma'a salaam.

It is about human pcychology, I think it is important how we tell something as well as what we tell. Timing, words used, approach all affect what responce we get. Our aim can not be to say somebody 'something is wrong, it is up to you after that you do or not'. We say it because we really want that he/she do not do that wrong thing again for her/his own good. That's why we should aim to convince him/her about giving up the wrong act. All the best :)

۩MoonLit Muslima۩ you are not going to fix people's mistakes so please don't give yourself a headache. It is God's job to show people the right way. That is why we say in Arabic " Allah Yihdi/Yihdiha". I know we are supposed to notify people if they do something bad but we can not force them to do what we think is right.

Are we going to see a war break out amongst the Muslims here like in Iraq?
There are those that follow the teachings of Muhammed, and think nothing of killing each other, (even the innocent), just because they don't agree exactly the same, much less another religion.
Addition,
Muslims telling others that they are wrong and need to change or else follows the actions of Muhammed and his followers at the very beginning of Islam. They spoke out against the Meccans and their idol worship. It was this conflict with the Meccans that led to the first blood shed in the name of Islam.

Islam is supposed to be easy! BUT some people want to make it easier than it is meant to be. They want to find loopholes for everything.
They don't learn enough about Islam before they 'sign up' so they don't realize what it truly means to be a Muslim.
Note however, that there ARE exceptions for some things in Islam - we are suppose to learn about them only from the learned though.
AND yes, sometimes when we convert things are hard for us and we don't always follow properly BUT we should be modest about it and NOT be showy about it. We should be SADDENED that we haven't been able to follow properly.
We should keep striving to follow properly and never be satisfied thinking we are 'doing enough'. We can always do better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome question.
edit: I agreed with the person below me about how for some things there are other interpretations but then he called you a very bad name....is that part of his interpretation?
