Could be...and then again, maybe not. People that believe a dead relative has returned may be delusional. Perhaps they want it to happen so much that they believe it and with "eyes of faith" (or ears of faith) they can then hear or see the person they loved. It is also possible that our loved ones are with us all the time and that either a miracle of God or of his enemy allows us to perceive them for a short time. Or perhaps it is exactly as you say...that, in certain circumstancs, God allows the spirit of a dead person to speak to a living person.

I find it very humorous that most of these people know for
a certainty what is and what is
not. What God will and won't do. I have found that one
cannot limit the Lord God.
I have known many Christians who have had their
loving relatives (along with
the Lord) come and escort
them home at the moment of
death.
Never say, "God won't" You
will usually be wrong.

Great question. In my personal life, I have 2 daughter-in-laws, 1 sister & 1 sister-in-law, who are registered nurses. At a family gathering once, this subject came up. 1 of the nurses works in a nursing home and was telling us of her experiences with residents (not by name of course due to law) who see and speak to family members who have passed previously. She said that staff of these facilities know that when someone begins to speak or see dead family members, they will pass within days. All the other nurses agreed and told of many such instances of which they had been a witness. There is comfort in such testimony.

hm, youre a little off. youre referring 2 ALL Christians, but not ALL Christians believe u go 2 Heaven when u die.why would we have a "second coming" if we go rite after death??? that dont make sense.
the SDA religion believes that when u die, u stay in the grave till God comes back 2 us. even the Bible tells us that the "dead know nothing", so whats w/ some Christians still believing something happens & we see Heaven if we dont know anything? how can u know what Heaven looks like rite after u die, if u dont know anything???
dont get me wrong, we-or i @ least plus my parents-believe in ghosts, we just dont believe they are what other ppl believe.
becuz of what the Bible sez about the dead knowing nothing, we know it cant b true if pplz souls are walkin around after theyre gone. what we believe is that Satan's angels come 2 "pose" as whoever died.ino its kinda far-fetched, but that doesnt contradict the Bible like the other beliefs do.

As one here mentioned,.. I never understimate the power or the will of our God!
In my life I have lost a husband and a mother. I have had.. dream, visitation, vision,.. whatever one wants to call it. It may have only been a vision from the Lord to comfort me in my loss BUT,.. whatever it was,.. I had a peace that passed all understanding!
With my mom,.. I kept crying and wishing for one more hug,.. in the "dream".. She was there! She held me and hugged me, then actually told me it was only a dream! I remember saying,.. "Then I won't wake up!"
After losing my hubby,.. in a car wreck.. He came back and was telling me the car and his body took a beating,.. but assuring me he was in a better place,.. and that "WE" were the ones that have it rough. Really him or not,.. afterwards I had an unexplainable peace!!

Yes, it does happen, but not all the time. The spirit needs to be enlightened and prepared to come close to relatives, otherwise his/her emotions would much more cause harm than help. However, it is totally possible. My daughter was 3 years-old and she saw my father 4 months after his death. I believe he came to say goodbye. Children can see them more often than adults. I also see and talk to dead beloved ones in dreams... all the time! They bring me messages, they give me comfort and wisdom. One of them came to me in dreams and asked my help and I did help him in dreams. Many of us help them while sleeping. Some of us even go to the spiritual world to help other spirits. We are all surrounded by spirits, all we have to do is pay attention.
Peace!

It happened the night Jesus was crucified, but I don't think it is happening today. I've never known a Christian who has had a dead relative come back to comfort them. That is not a Christian teaching.

No, the dead don't come back. As Jean said, if people see a "departed relative," it can only be a demon in disguise (or an hallucination).

Does Santa really eat your cookies and drink your milk on Christmas Eve? No? OK good, because god is not allowing souls to return to their loved ones. Reason being, just as in the cookie example, God is not real.

we are a physical world that is inside a spiritual world.
God is spirit, angels are spirit, even evil is spirit.
Throughout history there is record of "ghosts", spirits or what other name you would like to give them.
God is God and He does know what we need and He does promise to supply our needs. If that includes a visit by a died relative it is not beyond His power.
Peace
