I quit my job 1 month ago and still haven't received a check. What are the laws in the U.S. I was working for a company in Florida and I currently live in Idaho. The company was dishonest and took advantage of me.

Have you called them and asked them where the h&*% it is?

Make sure they have your current address, so they can't use some excuse like they tried to send it to you but didn't know where to send it.

A month is way too long. If you don't get it by contacting them, then contact the Florida department of labor.

Send a certified letter with your new address to the payroll department so the company can not claim they did not have a forwarding address. You should have been paid at the end of the pay period in which you last worked. Don't mind contacting www.hourwage.dol.gov. The resources are available on this web site to enforce payment of back wages.

If it's been that long then I would definitely be on the phone with them. You should get your last check on the next pay period after you quit.

I believe they have 7 days to provide you with your last check. Most companies do it quickly so they can cut that tie and move on.
