There is a new, young, "hip" church in NYC and I've been going as an experiment and to learn what they believe and what they teach people my age. I am learning a lot although I really don't believe in Jesus at this point. Is it still okay that I go and get the free books and coffee?

lol about the collection plate. I usually just give them my contact info in the bucket and they have send me two books, a metrocard and a starbucks gift card. Not too shabby. And I'm kind of open to hearing what they have to say, but I disagree with the social stuff and I'm not a literalist but maybe there is room for me somewhere.

The only "free stuff" you're gonna get in church is the crap handed out by the Jesus freaks in charge. Even then it's not free because you're expected to throw away some money into the collection plate.

Organized religions are pyramid scams only for the people on top who live off the rank and file. If you can reverse the flow more power to you.

gifts. We are supposed to give
whatever we can to anyone

Go for it the doors of the Church should be open to all who want to attend. My Church offers free coffee, doughnuts etc. . . Anyone who wants to come is welcome.
