I recently met my target goal and I want to start eating the things I want especially sweets. I do cardio and weight lifting 5 days a week. I eat 3 meals a day and I just want to enjoy a type of dessert (like cheesecake) at least every 3 or 4 days of the week. If I'm still exericising and doing everything I need to do, will I still gain weight?

I do cardio for 30-60 minutes and weight lifting for about 45 minutes.

It all depends on your body. Everyone is different. My suggestion is to try it out for 2 or 3 weeks, and pay close attention to your body-fat percentage. If you notice that you're gaining fat, you may need to cut back to desserts only twice a week or less.

When you're in "maintenance" mode, it just takes a little bit of trial and error to figure out what you can get away with diet-wise.

I'd say, start slowly: 1 small slice once a week. See if you're still in your target zone. For me, it would be impossible to eat 3-4 servings of cheescake a week and not gain weight. But everyone's different.

Good lord, woman! CHEESECAKE?!? That has like a million calories per slice!

If you really need it, plan on it one day a week, say Sunday brunch with your best friend. Stick with fruit as dessert the rest of the week. Otherwise, you'll negate a lot of good your exercise has done.

Definitely! Just watch your portions! And if the dessert you love comes in a lower calorie form, choose that. If you do over-indulge, remember that its not the end of world and add a little extra to your next few workouts.

You likely won't gain the weight back. But try it and see what happens. If you gain a few pounds, you know you need to spread out your treats.

I take one day every week to eat whatever I want and have maintained my weight loss for years.

Hope this helps,

Yes. If you have to eat a cheat meal, do it right after an intense weightlifting session but not within 3 hours of bed time.

It all depends on how many calories is in the desert. Cheesecake is high in calories but if you eat small portions and exercise you can probably burn the calories off.

With as much exercise as you do, I'm sure you will be able to maintain your weight. Enjoy your cheesecake, honey!! Just a small piece, though....LOL!
