Yes.. Soak them in water for at least 30 min before you use them AND put aluminum foil on the ends not covered by food so they don't dry out and burn.

Just simply soak them in water. You need to do it for at least 30 minutes to keep them from burning when you put them on the grill.

So they don't burn. You can also wrap a piece of tinfoil around the end with no food on it but still soak the skewers before using.

Wet wood doesn't burn very easily ;) Soak the skewers in water for about half hour.

I recommend soaking them - water is fine. I have also tried soaking them in other liquids (like orange juice, apple juice) to give a little bit of flavor.

Yes....because they are made of wood you need to soak them for at least 10 minutes totally submerged in water before using. Even then sometimes they still catch on fire.
