If you had to choose one side as the winner of this debate, which would it be?

Atheists seem to be winning by a landslide, which is really surprising to me. I expected a lot more support for the Theists.

Well, the problem is the theists are primarily represented by Christians, and I'm a rather disgruntled former Christian. So I'm not really objective. But I'm not really an atheist, either. Still, I have to say the atheists tend to have the better arguments. They do a certain amount of name-calling and sarcasm, but those that seriously answer questions tend to have much more logic and reason on their side.

Christians have a bad habit of quoting Bible verses as if they were real evidence. But to a non-Christian, that is no evidence at all.

There are way more Theists on R&S than atheists. The global encompass ninety seven% Theists and best three% Atheists. There you have got it. Have religion expensive peers in God. John three:sixteen Romans 10:nine

The only theist/atheist debate I've ever seen here has been between christians and atheists.. so, with that being said, atheists win- hands down.
Unfortunately, christians only use their bible for evidence and argument, while atheists have a plethora of material (history, science, logic, common sense, et al) to pull from. They are better "armed" with "ammunition" and present the argument logically. These are the elements one looks for in choosing a debate winner.

My opinion would be that the Atheists present their opinions more intellectually. The majority of the Thiests - who argue with the Atheists - are Christians. And the majority of the Christians on here quote the bible when making a point. That's just so silly. I mean - if the person you are arguing with has no belief in your point of reference - why use it to make your argument?

I'll say too, that sadly, I've seen folks on both sides who have mean-spirited and horrible things to say to each other.

I'm not an Atheist or a Christian - and I think that's a good thing for me.

Namaste!

It's not really much of a debate: We Atheists are perfectly willing to respect the beliefs of others; witness all of the many Christian friends, Pagan friends, Muslim friends, and Agnostic friends, that I have. All other Atheists are just like me in this regard. The only thing we don't like is when beliefs are forced on another.

We're not arguing the merits of any religion; we argue against intolerance, and for that, we are quite ahead of most Theists. Only the Pagans are as open-minded, generally speaking.

I'd have to vote for the atheists. They -- we -- aren't all world-class scientists or philosophers, but we don't let that stop us from using what we've got to understand the true nature of the universe. And you won't catch us retreating into our corner while muttering "just wait until after you're dead, THEN you'll be sorry," or similar meaningless nonsense.

Of course everyone is going to say their belief is right. We are not in a position to judge. Actually theists aren't, but atheists are. Because the burden of proof is on the theists.

Atheists.

The logic points to atheism. The only thing Theists have are holy books and subjective experience.

Inconclusive. Too many losers on both sides to declare a winner.
