From your description, it sounds like your virus is the rhinovirus, the most frequent causative agent of the common cold. There is no cure for the common cold. Antibiotics are used for bacterial infections and are ineffective against viruses. (To kill viruses, you need antivirals but there are no antivirals that work against the common cold virus).

Drink lots of fluids, get plenty of rest and you'll be just fine in a few days.

Your symptoms lead your doctor to the conclusion that you have a virus. Most viruses begin with a fever. Some do not. Your doctor will monitor your symptoms if you continue to worsen or it clear up on it's own. Viruses must just run their course. Stress is bad for your immune system. Eat right, get plenty of rest and fluids. If your symptoms do not clear on their own within a reasonable amount of time or new symptoms develop return further diagnostics. Take care. Get well soon. Self diagnosis can be detrimental to your health and relationship with your doctor. A little information is a bad thing. Your body will fight the infection quite nicely most of the time.

Antibiotics work against bacteria- which is different from a virus. Though the two can and often do have similar effects!

If the doc didn't tell you what the infection was, ask him until he does tell you. Or find a more competent doctor.

You said you don't feel sick. Is there a chance that you are perhaps experiencing a seasonal allergy?

Antibiotics cannot kill viral infections, they go away on their own. Antibiotics are used to kill bacteria, not viruses.
