okay...long story short...my 'rents are divorced.i live with my mom.we had two cats, male & female. they had two cats. then the momy snuck outside and had two more cats. now i really really dont want to take them to the human society...but i dont wanna put an add in the paper becuz i dont want people who could possibly be pet abbusers or whatnot to take my cats...so i've been trying to get people i know to take some of them. well my dad, that i do not live with, said he would take one of the about 12-weeks-old ones. now im not sure if i should be kinda worried but my dad smokes...constently...like you'll never see him without a cigarette. he needs to light one to get from the parking lot to the store...thats how bad it is... now i really dont know if him smoking around the little kitty all the time in a confined one bed room apartment(building) will affect the kitties health...does anyone know if cats lungs or any other parts of their bodies can be affect by alot of cigarrette smoke???

I know a guy who is dieing from lung cancer. His cats are 14 and 16 years old and perfectly healthy. They've never been to a vet since they were neutered as kittens....but they do eat top of the line cat food. This guy has always had lots of people visit him (permanent party time) and they all smoke and not just cigarettes. Anyways, my point is that I don't think cats live long enough to be affected by second hand smoke. I'm sure others will be telling you differently though.

PS...please get your kitties spayed/neutered.

If second hand smoke is bad for humans, I assure you, it is bad for cats. A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology found that dogs in smoking households had a 60 percent greater risk of lung cancer; a different study published in the same journal showed that long-nosed dogs, such as collies or greyhounds, were twice as likely to develop nasal cancer if they lived with smokers. And in yet another study, vets from Tufts University found that cats whose owners smoked were three times as likely to develop lymphoma, the most common feline cancer. Hope this helps!

Cats being exposed to second hand ciggerette smoke is more harmful then humans being exposed to second hand smoke and they'll end up dying from cancer.
