Jesus was persecuted and said his people would be to so it shouldn't be any great surprise.
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." – Matthew 5: 10-12
"If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you... If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you... (John 15:18-20)

You are of course entitled to your opinion. But all told, Christians are not the ones being attacked, though they love to say so despite being the vast majority of Americans and enjoying wealth, power, and the ability to sway elections. When is the last time you felt "attacked" by the government? Have you been stopped from practicing your religion? Has anyone physically hurt you? You may need to think about what an "attack" is.
If you were to make an argument that you backed up with a Christian belief, I would question the source. I would ask you to give a more reasonable basis for your belief than the Bible, or barring that, to defend the Bible as a reliable document... which it is not.
And if you don't think Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, or anyone else... including atheists... suffer from like "attacks", you really have your head in the sand.

I completely agree with Blackbird...it's more than likely your opinion and take on the issue that they are attacking, not your belief, and if they throw in the Bible in there, then they are using it as a method of trying to test your own resolve in it...it's called a debate, best way to create a logical and reasonable mind...if you get mad over it (which I see it can be happening) then you're letting it get to you. You are entitled to your own opinion to anything, but if your only source OF that opinion is part of a text that you might not even know the historical background information about...then I can understand where they are coming from. And if I was in a debate with a Jew, Muslim, or Buddhist or another Atheist I would use anything I can...just as much as you or they would. Also, it IS a cycle, since Christians tend to attack OTHERS beliefs when they don't fit in with your own, AND your religion DOES have a very long list of people that you have condemned for not being of your faith...and you do attack others when they go against your faith (now remember that the pronoun 'your' is replacing 'Christian' in all its forms, I'm not talking about you personally.)

They don't really want our opinion, they just want to try and "stump" us, the only problem is, we can't be stumped! I have some kind of answer for everything. Even if it's not right away, I will find one somehow!
I have realized, they are never satisfied. It's alright, at least we stood up and took our place, instead of turn the other cheek or just not have an opinion. You are doing the right thing, but like I said, it will never matter to them. Some people are just not destined to believe. It's sad, I know, but you have to let it go. They will face the truth in the end.
You are entitled to your opinion, at all costs. Just be prepared to get immature, childish replies, along with the well thought out debates, where people actually know what they're talking about.
I have found even an atheist can HELP your beliefs, by spewing lies, you can dig to find the real truth, and grow stronger in your own faith. That's been my case, anyhow.
Good luck, stay strong!

They are probably setting you up so they can attack you. Try saying it does not matter what I think about these things, it matters only what the bible says. Of course then you will need to be ready to show scripture on the topic. but that takes it out of the realm of your opinion.
These people asking probably know you are a Christian and where you stand and they just want to argue. I used to get that a lot when I was a Christian and by answering the way I suggested shut them up usually.

You are obviously free to express your opinions, the problem is the content of most religious based opinions, (Cristian, Jewish, or Muslims,) they are mostly based on an absurd insistence on the word of God and the Bible, the Torah, or the Quran. And an absolute dismissal in discussing reasonably any other possible explanation about life, evolution, and all other natural phenomena as it is well described by science.

Christians have been getting attacked since day one. Even Paul was hunting them down, remember? If we're going to belong to the most radical belief system on the planet, we have to expect some flack from time to time. At least they don't still believe we practice cannibalism because of communion!
If you want to take a break from it, just give your opinion straight out. If you're walking in faith (which it sounds like you are), they'll figure out you're a Christian on their own. Like the saying goes - "The best missionary is a good example."
Hang in there.

They shouldn't attack your beliefs if they asked for your opinion. However, there are many Christians in my experience who do not give their opinion ONLY when asked. You may be encountering a reaction to THAT.
Pagans are attacked constantly too, be glad the attacks on you have just been verbal. Pagan friends of mine have had physical attacks leveled against them. One even had their home burned down....

Just for your information:
Yahoo! Answers is not the best place to find tollerance of anykind, towards anyone.
Yes, Christians do get attacked for their faith... This may be for many reasons... other people's preconceptions... stereotypes... and ignorance may cause someone to attack a Christian...
it's not just the Christians getting attacked...
However, I understand what you are going through.

Would the people you talk with think that you are attacking them for their beliefs? It appears from what you've written that people are critical of your beliefs, not your faith.
As a Christian pastor who works full-time in a secular job, I don't feel attacked, at all. When people talk about obscene things, or express enjoyment in pornography, or engage in other spiritually negative things with which I disagree, I'm very seldom critical of them -- so there's not much 'attacking' going on. I love them in their sins.
As a follower of Christ, the ONLY reasonable, Christ-like response concerning homosexuals is to love them. Jesus ate, walked and lived among sinners, fornicators, and other sexual sinners, and he loved them. He asked who among us is without sin, and he loved us in our sins.
As followers of Christ, we're NOT entitled to opinions. We DON'T have choices. We have to love everyone. Every sinner, every homosexual, every person we meet we are to love just as we love Jesus.
Godspeed.

Why do Christians attack us for expressing our ideals? If Christians do in contrast to what i'm asserting, they could get the heck over it. I truthfully have a ideal to precise myself besides. "some heathenistic jackass comes alongside and tries to injury issues by utilising attacking us." not making your self sound any further effective than your so-called non-Christian attackers.
