I try not to go too much over it. Today I went through a speed trap (State Police) 10 miles over, I'm not sure whether they didn't stop me because everyone else was going 15-20 MPH over or because I had in-state plates (it is a major road to the beach and all of the people the had pulled over had DC, VA and MD plates) or because I was in uniform (I waved at them and they waved at me, it was cool seeing all those over-priced cars pulled over - cost of doing business I suppose). I wish they would do more of that every week though, get the speed down to a reasonable rate and make people like you pay for the roads and the cops that keep us safe and if they collect a real lot of fines, maybe lower my state taxes even more (much lower rates here than DC, VA and MD). Oh and if you come to my town, please come here because it's peaceful and serene and people like to bicycle and walk, the speed limit is 25 (not 45) in town for a reason. And guess what, after Labor Day and before Memorial Day that's we drive. Stay where you come from if you need excitement, that's why I left there.

I drive at the posted speed limits. My drivers license is my bread and butter. Without it, I'm finished. Besides, at $3.00 and more per gallon, I don't need to make the oil companies any richer than they are. Another reason is I do not work all week to pay a local district justice fines & court costs. That's just plain stupid. I'd rather put that money into my account, not his. (or hers)
I can't help but wonder how much gas would have to cost before people wise up & slow down? That would burn less gas and cause less visits to the pump. Speeders are dumb, no question.

I now follow the speed limit within aprox 5km/h. I used to drive within about 20km/h. And if I'm driving the speed limit and your tailing me, then get over it!! I hate people who think they can drive how fast they want, and get all angry and have road rage because your not speeding like them. Hope you get a fine!! :D And people say its the boy racers, I drive a lowered car and would be stereotyped as the young speeder but I have had so many older people tailing me for going the speed limit.

on city streets, i try to drive the limit always..too many people walking about, a bunch of little bergs around here have speed traps, so it really doesn't pay to speed anywhere around st. louis, 25 to 35 is plenty fast within a city. highway, at least 5 miles over, i try to never go over 10 miles over the speed limit.
and "Fex" up here above me is right..you people, "( like the guy who posted the question), get all bent out of shape when, regardless of what lane we're in, it's too slow, looky here, unless we're going way under the speed limit, you all need to BACK OFF MY ( ....GOT IT?

In reality, no one adheres to the speed limit. They may be a mile or two above it, at the very least.

I stay real close. I was pulled over on my 21st birthday for doing 75 in a 15 without insurance and am lucky to even able to walk the streets, much less drive. I have insurance now and stay real close.

I do. There's no place that I have to be in such a hurry that I need speed. I always laugh at the guys who beat ne to the stop light.

I usually do about 5 miles above it. I never go faster than that ever since a bad accident that I was involved in (no I wasnt the driver).
