Hi there again...already some states have banned Bengal Cats (Georgia, Hawaii and discussion of them being banned in New York...). The bans reasons vary from each state.

Some reasons discussed in hybrid and exotic forums indicate that because legislature believes if we allow hybrid pets then this gives people licence to also for exotic pet ownership. This is because they think some people will keep an exotic to breed with a watered down version, which isn't always the case such as with Bengal breeders (four generations or more for Bengal to Bengal breeder, for example).

Other reasons is political...re-election, money lining someone's pockets, HSUS or API lobbying legislatures to approve bans for their animal activist causes, etc.

This is a simplified answer because to go into more details would take more than a whole page to read and probably would bore most people. It's best to look to hybrid pet laws within each state to learn the reasons behind the banned bills.

NO. Do not make having a Bengal or Savannah illegal or thousands of happy healthy pets are going to be stuck in cages and eventually die miserable and lonely. If we illegalize a whole breed because of a few bad people, hell, we wouldn't be allowed to own dogs at all because of pit bull fighters. Making the hybrids illegal isn't going to make the rest of us responsible. It's specious reasoning!

Bengals are at least 10 generations into domestic cat crosses. The Savannahs and some of the PixiBobs aren't.

It's the politics of being politically correct.
Once the PC ball starts rolling anybody
who objects is run over. Politicians are
obsessed with & will do anything to win
reelection. Hybrids aren't P.C. so
politicians wimp out & make them illegal.

this site has a lot of info about hybrid cats. they should be illegal. people can't even take care of regular cats and they want special needs ones? there's already such a huge problem with boarders, strays and feral cats. i think we all need to be more responsible.
