I'm having trouble picking which pretend play kitchen to get for my daughter. My choices are Dora the talking kitchen(my choice) Since, my daughter loves Dora or the Homestyle kitchen center(my husband's choice) he thinks it has more for her to do. This is a birthday idea. Anybody have any of these and how good were there? Thank you

I would go for the Homestyle kitchen center. She will soon leave the Dora stage and be stuck with a Dora kitchen she does not play with....The homestyle kitchen will probably be more realistic to her and will keep her busy with pretend time as she gets older.
We were debating between a princess kitchen and a kitchen similar to the one you are looking for, and we went for the more realistic one, we set it up in our kitchen, and she "cooks" while I cook!

I'd get the one that has more for her to do. Dora and other "fads" pass and soon she'll be hooked to something else. My daughter loved Dora too until she turned 4 and now can't stand anything to do with Dora.
I think it's a mistake to go with a trend.
Also, it may be easier to get accessories for the other kitchen as it's been around for longer and probably will stick around after the Dora one fizzles.

The first revieww at Amazon for the Homestyle kitchen indicates that it's a MAJOR chore to assemble -- I hate that kind of Christmas Eve nightmare -- which could even end with an untimely return! Dora's kitchen seems ok for a 2-y-o, but won't a less cartoony play kitchen keep her interest as she matures a bit? My sister got this one for her daughter, and everybody was thrilled with it:

Pricey, but very sturdy and well-constructed. One of Amazon's alternate merchants offers it new for almost $50 less.

I would get the fisher price grow with me kitchen.....Dora is not good quality, my sister had it and it fell apart every other day!!!! The homestyle kitchen is o.k. but i think the "grow" kitchen has way more than the homestyle and it will grow with her as she grows plus it mimicks real life a lot more relastic...talks with her and makes cooking sounds ...I bought it for my son who is now 18 months old and he loves it and it's of good tough quality...my 9 yr old daughter even uses it and plays with her brother

I am getting one for my daughter when her baby sister is born. I am with your husband , we will be getting the Homestyle kitchen for her. The reason, it does has more stuff and also I would be cautious of all the Dora stuff that is being recalled.

I don't know about hte homestyle kitchen, but we had the Dora kitchen and we had to return it. The quality was just horrible. It was falling apart after a week!

I would pick the homestyle kitchen because my kids who are 6 and 8 now, have always liked the ones that mimicked real life the most. And the ones with more to do definitely. The one my girls still have has an ironing spot a washer/dryer spot cook top and oven with microwave and coffee maker, it is Little Tikes and my 8 yr old still plays with it.

Your best choice might be your own kitchen - you might want to give her a lower cabinet filled with pots/pans/plates and things she can use. If there's room for both of you in there, her own special place/items to work near you will be coolest.

Between Dora and Homestyle, I'd pick homestyle, primarily because it's better to not immerse kids in marketing, merchandising, consumerism. Really really resist buying toys related to tv shows, movies, and video games. Better to teach her early on to develop her own identity and to think for herself than how to consume, go along, and choose her identity from the array offered by chinese merchants and their american corporate middle men.

I think she will delighted if she receive a Dora Talking kitchen. The fact that she likes Dora kids just loved and grateful if you give them and they get what they want

I would go with the homestyle kitchen. Does it talk also? If not, there is one that fisher price makes that does talk. That's the one my son's sister has and it's excellent. The first time we got her a 'fad kitchen'... I think it was disney princess or something, don't remember, and it fell apart.
