You need to look at your DD 214 bottom right corner where it says RE code. That is what matters. Its probably a 3, which isn't great. You obviously did something while in. You can also call the VA and see if you are eligible for an upgrade to honorable

Sounds to me like you are looking at the wrong block on your DD-214. AFR 39-16 is the Separation Authority, the next block (26) will have the Separation Code.
Go back and take a closer look.

39-16 is the discharge manual used by the USAF...you can find it on-line

Sounds like some just isn't suited to be a military person, maybe overweight, to tall, to short, can not adapt to military rigor, not physically able or mentally able to perform duties.
