Promotion in the military has to do with vacant positions or openings that need to be filled. Promotions also entail time in grade.

Given each requirement then we have to say that - it is not possible to be promoted to Pfc on day 1 and on the same day promoted to Cpl regardless of the vacant position..

I have never heard of anyone not being a specialist first for at least a minute, but it can happen. I think one day is a little fast there had to be a little more time than that. But if they got the orders, and went through the whole promotion speal ( the army puts special trust in and awards the rank of etc......) than ya it can happen. A corpral is an e-4 just like a specialist which is one up from PFC.

It depends on how much time this person spent as a PFC. If he was due for the promotion on that day, then your answer is yes.

I doubt it, but anything is possible in the military. If "somebody" wants it done, it will get done. All this stuff gets decided in the NCO club bar anyway.

its possible to get it quickly, but not likely one day. its all up to your chain of command. but with a little knowledge of the army...almost NOTHING is possible in one day (especially if it involves the chain of command!!!) anyhow, cpl is a shitty rank to have! a bunch of extra duties, no extra pay. just be a lazy Spc.!!! thats what my hubby's doing...hooah!!

Well, depending on shortage of NCO's it's very possible. If an NCO gets killed or discharged, or tranfered they usually need to promote other people quickly depending on the unit's needs.
