Absolutely. You'll need to keep the dog on leash at all times except when he's safely confined and you'll need to discover a signal he can hear whether it be your voice, a clicker or whistle to tell him what to do. For example, if he can hear a whistle, one blow on the whistle could be the come command, two could mean sit, and three for down. Petting and/or a yummy treat would work well for praise.

Walking nicely on a loose leash can be taught just by using sudden turns and changes of direction so the dog learns to pay attention to you. Don't forget, even if he can't see you or hear you very well, he can certainly smell you and senses the vibrations you make when walking.

During the learning stage, when you are teaching a command to a dog, you don't use corrections. When you get to the proofing stage, the stage where the dog knows what you want but chooses not to do it, then you'd use leash corrections to tell him he's chosen incorrectly.

One thing though, dogs do not generalize very well so you have to teach the same command from step one in several locations.

Yes it can. I had a Kerry Blue Terrier that was blind and deaf. He was a wonderful pet. Changed his name to Barney. He did not mind at all!!!!

yes you can train a dog like that! because dogs have a great sense of smell and their hearing would still work

all you got to do is teach them to rely on their smell

Yes of course, as long as you are aware of his limitations and capablilities.
ALWAYS be gentle, and NEVER NEVER scold or punish him if he gets it wrong or your request is beyond his abililty.
train only by reward.
If he is otherwise healthy he can take just as much excercise as any dog. He'll know his limits......

I know people who have tried this & it takes a whole lot
of time/patience. Sometimes it works & it depends a whole lot on the dog.
