Christ clearly started calling him Lord,Lord meant nothing--it was only obeying that mattered--not judging--treating all as you would like to be treated. That's what the teacher taught--why do some Christians disobey daily--& still call themselves Christians???

Most people who follow a religion are motivated by fear or ignorance...what would happen if they didn't worship X, Y, or Z? Jesus was a great person who taught that others can be great as well if they did as he did; he didn't want to be worshiped. People who do un-christian-like things but call themselves christians simply aren't. I could call myself an elephant, but still do nothing that an elephant does...but will I get into the circus for free? ;-)

Good question. The teacher is more important then the teaching, but the teaching should be obeyed out of love for God. We often forget Christian are human and still make mistakes. I have yet to see one person follow Christ in perfection. When we goof up guess what, God corrects us just like a parent who teaches a child the difference between right and wrong. Parent will punish the child when he makes a mistake. Often first with a warning and then with priviledges being taken away. God no different. Often He warns then when we fail to obey still, he begins punishment to bring about correction. It maybe as simple as guilt or the loss of something dear in our life.

All Christians fall short of the Kingdom save for the fact that Jesus has saved us. Being a Christian does not mean that we are no longer going to sin. It does mean that we try to do better and with the grace of God we succeed most of the time. Also not all who call themselves Christians are. On the Judgment day some who say that they are Christians will be told to go to the place created for them as Jesus states I never knew you.

I suppose you know who Paul is? Well Paul had this to say about his sinning: "the good I would do, I do not. The evil I would not do, I do". Am I greater than Paul? I don't think so.

I love Jesus. I love Him and I revere the word of God. Do I sin? Daily. Am I still a Christian? Yes. A forgiven, and grateful, one.

In my view a real true Christian does not do that [make the teacher more important than the teachings?] .

I think the answer is obvious. We live in America, thus everyone wants to go to Heaven. They want it all. Regardless of how they live their lives they still want Heaven. But the Bible is clear, no matter what they SAY, many won't get heaven (the road is narrow). Even religious people won't make it. Don't worry, God knows everything and he will sort it out. They can't fool him. No one can. :)

Generally because the teachings require sacrifice and effort and maundering about the teacher is practically an effortless exercise.

If we take our eyes off Jesus as peter did, then we begin to sink into sea of religion, worshiping the creature more than the Creator. Keep your eyes on the ball, and you won't miss.

Hello huffyb.. :)

Without the Teacher (Jesus), we would not have His teachings..

They should "both be in seperable".. :)

I am in total agreement with you..we are to act, walk and talk just like Jesus..for we are to be perfect, even as our Father in Heaven is Perfect.. :)

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)
