She is protecting her kittens. It's instinctive. Male cats will kill kittens, so she doesn't trust the boy cat even though she has known him a long time.
Something has changed, since she had a litter before and didn't do this. Maybe she doesn't feel as secure where she has her nest this time, or your boy cat has matured and is a tomcat now and she is afraid he'll harm her kittens
As soon as her kittens are weaned, please get her spayed, for everyone's sake.

She just feels more protective of her babies. It's like when a woman is pregnant. She doesn't always have the same cravings and what not for each pregnancy.
I think the kittens will have to be a little older before the mom cat will tolerate the male cat.

after the kittens are weened they should get along ok.. the kittens are more than likely the male cats and the female is protecting them.. males tend to kill the male kittens..
do see about getting your cat fixed! cause a female and male can produce thousands of cats in just seven years.. with the shelters and rescues.. we really dont need more..

Female cats can be territorial after birth - not just with other cats but ppl too! If you try to mess with her kittens too much, she will move them or try to hide them from you. In the wild male cats can sometimes harm their young, so the females instinctively get "vicious"

If i were you i'd keep the boy cat seperated from the girl cat till the kittens open their eyes. He might kill them or she will get upset and kill them.

I suggest a vet. Call the vet and ask for suggestions. That, I think, is a good place 2 start. Or go to a vet website where you can ask a vet question, and ask it!!!
And I strongly suggest you spay and neuter your cats!

Well..........she's the mom and she says 'no' so this time around she doesn't want him near them for the moment.
Make sure he doesn't have to go past her to get to the food and water bowls, or the litter box. She may just need time to feel ok with him around.
