I gotta agree with everyone here, you just can't beat a Mazdaspeed car for the price. The speed 3 is definitely superior to the Tiburon in just about every way. The Tiburon is better if you don't want to drive a stick or want the extra horsepower/room of the 3. I almost bought a speed6 last year myself and those are AWD, but alas I'm not too good with a stick and my wife wanted me to get a car she could drive on occassion...so I got the Azera Limited. You gotta hand it to Mazda when it comes to making performance versions of their cars at a low price, nobody else comes close in that regard. I believe they only made 5000 Speed 3's, so good luck getting one.

No. Not to my knowledge. The Tiburon is slower, much less reliable, and I believe has less interior room. The Mazda has 4 doors the Tiburon has 2. The Mazda is a hatchback whereas the Tiburon is a coupe. They are both FWD. The newest Tiburon gets and epa rating of 23/31 mpg for the GS model and 19/27mpg for the GT and GT Limited models.This is for the manual transmission, auto is 1mpg worse. The Mazda gets 19/35mpg. The curb weight of the Tiburon is between 2800 and 3000 lbs, cannot find curb weight of speed3. The speed3 comes with a 6 speed manual tranny standard, the Hyundai Tiburon has 5 speed or auto on GS, GT and GT Limited models, and only offer 6 speed manual on the ES model.
These are the basic differences, but overall, the Mazda is a far superior vehicle, and is one of the fastest FWD production vehicles ever made!!

Warranty, cost, insurance and fuel efficiency; the 'speed3 just sucks down gas. That being said, the mazda is way more practical, still an incredible bargain, handles better, is way faster, and I'm sorry C7S, but the mazda even looks better than the tiburon (I like hatchbacks).

Only ones I can think of are cost, and the warrenty. the Mazdaspeed3 is a great car.
