If they promised him a school, one for CBRN, chances are that when he is through with basic they will tell him there are not slots available and send him to AIT of another sort, probably infantry.

His chances of going to Iraq are very good.

Very high even though there is very little threat of that type there. Odds are, he'll be assigned to a unit that has a requirement for an individual of that MOS, which most units have, then that unit will have a requirement to deploy. Who knows what will happen though after the report comes out in September.

NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) (that's what they were called when I was in) guys will go, but only a small hand full will be there and usually in the rear where it is safer.
He may go but there is a better chance that when he is done with school, he will be at his duty station and not in Iraq.

his chances are the same as anybody else in this army. granted theres not really too much of a chemical threat here, but keep in mind not too long ago we had a few "chlorine" bombs. we're not about taking chances in a war so our unit is fully "anti-chemical" supped up. our nbc people are doing their job, but since their job doesn't involve a whole lot except keep track of the nbc stuff and make sure the chemical equipment works is pretty much all that goes into being a deployed chemical person. because thats not a whole lot, they get put in other jobs, too. one of our nbc guys is working in an office and the other one goes out on missions.

He might go, but the need for them is not in Iraq as we know they had none of those things!
