If your boyfriend is an American Citizen this is what you need to do. You do NOT need an attorney. Follow these directions exactly.

1. Get married BEFORE the tourist visa expires.

2. Have your husband file the following forms with the US Citizenship and Immigration Service all at the SAME time...

I-130 (petition for alien family member)
I-485 (application to change status)
I-134 (affidavit of support)
I-765 (application for work permit)
G-325 (bio history)

You will find the forms and their instructions here...

The total fees will be $1,705.

You will be allowed to stay in the United States while the applications are being processed. You'll get your work permit in a few months. You'll get your Green Card in about a year.

If your boyfriend is NOT an American citizen you CANNOT do this. You will have to leave the United States if he only has a Green Card.

you must fall into the category of people eligible. you can either marry a US citizen, find a company to sponsor you, win the yearly immigration lottery, invest $1,000,000 into a US company, have a close relative that is a US citizen sponsor you, or be a refugee. these are the ways that you can legally immigrate to the US. they are all long, difficult and expensive ventures. and you are never guaranteed to be accepted. you cannot simple come here on a tourist visa, decide to stay, and apply for a green card. it no longer works like that.

Yes thats done. You'll have to give good reason, and return to your country while the process is going on ,it takes longer than the standard 6 month visa.If you have a relative here that has a green card that can speed up the process as you can by pass the green card lottery.....George
