I don't believe in the "once saved, always saved" idea. I feel that my salvation isn't acheived in a one-time experience... it's more of a work-in-progress type situation.
I must be constantly vigilant against sin and temptations.... yeah, some are little temptations, like the urge to be a little nasty to my husband when he hasn't gotten something done on the Honey-do list, and sometimes it's something bigger, like the intense jealousy I feel toward those who have things I don't....
I'm grateful for the gift of Jesus' Atonement (the payment for my sins), and I use it regularly.... They say that repenting is like showering- no matter how well you do it today, you're still going to have to do it again tomorow... and the next day, and the next.... So I do.
At the Final Judgement Bar, God will look at my whole life, not just one event. Hopefully, what I've done (my choices) with what He's given me (my life) will be a fitting gift to my Father.

I'm sorry you believe this. How awful it must be to think that God's eternal gift of salvation, isn't eternal.
John 10:28" And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" OK i know you heard of that verse before. Who hasn't?
I know that when I got saved I became a new creature. Old things were passed away and all things were created new. Hallelujah! When I got saved the Holy Spirit came in my life and has been there ever since. He has never left me. I don't understand how one can become a new creature, have heaven as their home, and have truly repented and then end up at square one whenever they sin. I know heaven is my home, and God is my Father.....all the time. Read Romans six. Satan will never have dominion in my life ever again. He is never going to be my master again. God bless.

Once saved IS always saved. If you're christian, you believe in the new testament as basically taking the place of the old testament. In the nt it tells you how to be 'saved'. Then, there's only 2 commandments to follow... according to jesus: "Love thy god with all thy heart, soul, and mind." and..
"Love thy neighbour as thyself"
If you look at these two commandments, it basically sets you up for living a 'pure' life.
There's the concept of sin and repentance but 'sinning' won't keep you outta heaven.

Yes, once saved always saved. Running the race is not working up to being "fully saved" it is talking about having discipline and endurance to keep your inner man strong and constantly renewing your mind to be like Christ's, not renewing your salvation. But we are not saved by saying "yes to God." Read Romans 10:9,10.

So wait, this isn't really a question, right? Ok. Cool. Then I don't really have to give an actual answer.
But I will help you out a bit - on Yahoo 360 - you can blog and fit in much more information than you can in Y! Answers details sections.
Happy Friday Night!

You are right. You aren't saved once, and that is it. You have to work at it. Continual repentance is the only way to be saved. You can't just say that you believe in Christ and you repent of your sins. That won't cut it. You have to show Christ that we accept His gift, that's through repentance.

Yes, very true. But it is a very hard thing to lose your salvation. You have to be in direct disobedience.
That's why the scripture says that God looks at the heart.

I guess it depends on your definition of saved. IMO, a person isn't saved until they are with God in His Kingdom. So in that sense, yes, I believe once saved, always saved.
But in other peoples sense, no, you can always change your mind, backslide, whatever you want to call it.

You are right. Salvation is a gift from God, and He will not take away that gift, but we can choose to reject it.
We all know people who used to be Christians but now do terrible things and no longer believe. They have rejected God, and thus their salvation.

I disagree. God's Word says that once you belong to Him "No man can pluck you out of His hand." That means once saved, always saved.
