I think religions hurt people. It gives them a false sense of hope and security. It causes people to delude themselves when in reality they are just being herded and controlled. The only reason religion was created was to make coping with death and loss easier and to give people a better reason to behave than "because i said so". I dont think it was ever meant to be the cause of a great divide and that the people who wrote the bible, the Koran, etc. would be shocked at how much they underestimated human gullibility. "Oh my god dude, they actually think the whole snake story was based on fact! holy crap! Hey Aristotle, get a load of this! These people are waiting for . . are you ready . . christ to rise again!! HA! the south maybe, but seriously folks . . ."

Contrary to ostensible popular opinion. Religions may, God doesn't (exist). Religion lets people think they're going somewhere nice when they die, letting them feel for the brief span they're on earth, that they're not going to just rot in the ground. While they are just going to do just that, it might be nice to think otherwise. So my jury is still out on the benefits of religion vs. the damages. Wars happen anyway, with or without religion, and I still think that often they may cause more good in the long run than harm.
So Religion may be helpful. But God definitely isn't.

Religion helps some people. For example say some gang ministry preacher gets some dangerous organized criminals "saved" and off the streets. That would be helping the gangster by ending their self-destructive criminal activity, and helping all the people that would have been victims had said gangster not been "saved". For your everyday practitioner, it serves for networking, creation of extended family, and possibly a sense of well-being among other things. However, on a global scale, large heavily organized religions can be very harmful.

I do think religions help people, but only weak people who can't or won't help themselves, and there's a lot of them around.
Religion may well be all myths and lies, but it does give people who have nothing good in their lives something to cling on to.
It may also be that some people who would otherwise have turned out really evil have lived better, kinder lives because of their beliefs.
Ignorance is bliss, folks!
I say all this despite being an agnostic. Looks like I don't have much faith in humanity, huh?

Individually, they must do, otherwise why would anyone bother? Being part of a religion gives a sense of belonging to a community. On a larger sacale, no, they help no-one, they only cause death and destruction. I'm an atheist myself.

It's not about religion at all, its about the word of the man above and strenghthening is kingdom and worshipping the Lord christ and saviour before Gods heavenly kingdom. Religions can confuse you but the word of god remains the same. Ask god to give you wisdom knowledge and understanding about reading the bible and I'm certain that you will receive it.
God bless!

NO. They divide people. They confuse people. They instill fear in people. They cause priests, pastors, bishops, and popes to do the unnatural. They take money and build useless monuments rather than helping to heal the world...
Most are social clubs with great tax-free wealth.
Start one soon you will become a very wealthy person! Catholic, Christian, and Islamic are the most lucrative.

Religions help people find direction for their lives; a purpose and a reason for living.
