Ok, my friend, 20, has a one year old. Just last night she left home because of her mom's and mother-in-laws constantly budding in on her parenting... So she ran away with the baby. Now both grandma's are threatening her that if she doesnt go home, they will take the child away, and they threatened her to take her to court... they've also harassed me and they think I had somthing to do with her running away.... What can I do? What can she do in this situation?? I need law advise!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The two of you, need to tell the two of them, to F**k off.

She is well within her legal rights to take her child with her if she wants to leave, and unless they can prove she is an unfit parent (not easy to do), then they can scream 'court case' all they want until they are blue in the face, and she will still have the child and they will still be screaming.

Unless there is something here that you are not telling us, then she has done absolutely nothing illegal, and so long as she and the child are in a safe place, they are up against a brick wall trying to get any legal intervention.

As for you? The next time they call you, tell them to f**k off and quit calling you, otherwise, it will be YOU filing harassment charges on THEM.

they cannot take the child away legally because she is OLD enough to do it herself. she was right to run away. my God...how smothering. contact the police and file a report agains them harrassing you. and each time they harrass you file another police report. While you may not get a restrainging order agaist them, at least you will have on record that they are in fact harrassing you. which will help you in your case. don't tell them that you are going to call the police...just do it.

As long as the child is being taken care of and there is not abuse ect. let them threaten all they want. There has to be a form of abuse or neglect before they have any grounds to stand on!

Well if she has a decent place to live in, has a job or enough money for he rand her child, and overall can supply for the needs of her and her baby, then she'll be aloud to keep him.

She needs to stay away from them and raise her son the way she wants. You need to sue them for harassing you.

She left with her own child...she has a right to do that. You don't need legal advice for that.
