I believe if you win more than $1200 on a slot machine or $10,000 on a card game a casino will make you fill out a tax form to make sure you claim your winnings as income.

Maybe! They are required by the government to whithold tax on winnings aver a certin amount. This is done specifically to make sure that you file a tax return. You cnanot get a refund without reporting the income.

Whether you get a refund sepends on many variables. You are a touris; does that mean a Non-citizen of the US or merely a resident of another state? How much other income and deductions o you have? Do you have enough gambling losses to offset some or all orf the winnings?

Even if I asked evey possible question, it is likely that I would not be able to accurately tell you the amount of the refund. WHen you file the tax return to get the refund, you might want to engage a tax professoinal to prepare the return.

Congratulations on the jackpot.

If you are a non-resident alien, those winnings were subject to source taxation. There is no need to file a return and you will NOT get any of the tax refunded to you.
