Fortunately or unfortunately if you look Hispanic and are near the borders.. it would make sense to check citizenship. This is 1 of the duties of the United States Border Patrol.

Yes, it could be perceived as unfair; however at the same time.. it is not without reason. Right?

Profiling is an invaluable tool for Law Enforcement.. Keep in mind that there is MORE than just racial profiling. If you were the victim of a serial rapist.. you'd hope that the Detectives on your case would be experts at profiling. Right?

America is a melting pot of many cultures and trust me I am well aware of the fact that because of the behavior of others you may be questioned. Not fair? Probably. Legitimate? Yes.

As Americans are expected to Press 1 for English, throw away their religion yet watch others pray in front of them and be chastised for saying Merry Christmas in public.. there are certain things that YOU are going to have to accept too.

Racial crimes are adamantly investigated so it is not as if all Americans are racially biased.. BUT, not for one moment should you believe that as more and more Americans are forced to change or do away with what they hold dear.. that there will not be some valid reactions.

I strongly support our United States Border Patrol as it is a hard road but it is invaluable. America welcomes ALL; however some refuse to follow our rules immediately and cross illegally. Well, the laws that you will stand behind for protection are related to the laws that give Border Patrol Agents the right to search and/or question you.

What would your solution be? The Border Patrol is hiring.. I would strongly suggest that you consider it as a career. You'll have little to no impact on the outside, but as a Border Patrol Agent.. you'll be in a much better position to change procedure.

That is, if after you become a Border Patrol Agent you still feel the way you do.. it's weird once people walk in the shoes of another.. they're perception almost always changes. The same could be said for a citizen to trade places with an illegal..

You can make a difference or you can make a scene. Differences have more impact.

I wish you well!

That is the job of the border patrol. To insure that everyone entering the United States has a legal right to enter.

Given the illegal immigrant problem I believe this is a pretty simple and normal request.

Pulling over anyone to inspect liscense and registration and/or citizenship is perfectly legal and has nothing to do with racial profiling.

Many states also RANDOMLY pull over vehicles in order to check for proof of citizenship, liscense, registration, and proof of insurance. Sounds like your sisters number just came up...

Illegal entry into a country is not a racial issue. It is mostly for economical reasons or to seek asylum from persecution. Why should a government's effort to enforce the law, in that case, be racially motivated??

Specially when the enforcement is done by the Border Patrol which has so many "Hispanics" in its ranks??. Anyway, document checking is also done in Mexico, near its borders north or south.

Carry a photo identification with you at all times & you should have no problems. Use common sense & don't take this personal just because you happen to have brown skin. It happens every day in California too. Besides, if you're legal, what's the problemo? If you aren't THEN you need your paperwork/green card to show as proof of COMPLIANCE. The U.S. still has laws to enforce. The ICE agents also are picking up people who have failed to appear in court, as they were ordered to do. Other nationalities are also being picked up for deportation, not just Mexicans. You happen to be in a largly Hispanic area, so it just seems like they're picking on you...they aren't.

If you support all efforts to prohibit illegal immigration, then why question the method? If your in an area of border crossings and of Hispanic descent, then yes your citizenship is in question. Not so much racial profiling, but just the knowlege that majority of those crossing the border from Mexico are not "white", or "black".

Border patrol is doing it's job, then.

What do you think Border Patrol is for? To sit there and watch a bunch of cars drive by them and twiddle their thumbs?

They are SUPPOSED TO ASK for proof of citizenship. It's about freaking time they did their job.

It's not profiling if they stop everyone, only if they stop a certain genre of people.

Your question is flawed, if they are stopping everyone then how can it be racist policy. Again, they are just doing their job.
