Becoming afraid of the dark at the age of 21 tells me that you had something happen to you 2 years ago......right? Something scared you terribly 2 years ago and you haven't gotten over it. You don't say what it was, but my suggestion would be to see a counselor. You need to talk to a professional to help you through this.....especially if it was something REALLY traumatic like your house being broken into, or if you (or another family member) were attacked. You can make your own appointment now--you're an adult. If you don't get counseling, this is going to haunt you for the rest of your life---and your fear will just get worse.

Hi Lili ! I have gone through your other questions also on your strained relationship with your b/f. Could it be because somewhere at the back of your mind you were not comfortable with your relationship with your boyfriend and have been sort of insecure. Most of us undergo some or the other traumatic experience of life. So please take it easy though it is easier said than done ! But time is the best healer. You would cope with it sooner or later. If you are having sleepless nights don't hesitate to go to a shrink. It is absolutely normal to take professional help instead of keep suffering. There are really good medicines that will initially soothe you. Once you restore your normal sleep, you will alright and all those nightmarish feelings will end. Good luck!

Your place of employment should have what's called an Employee Assistance Program or EAP for short which amounts to free counseling with a mental health care provider. Ask your Human Resources Department if this benefit exists in your organization. If it doesn't then I would recommend going to a psychiatrist or psychologist specializing in post traumatic stress disorder. Good luck.

I truthfully have a splash brother who would be 3 in June, and that i'm his lots older sister, yet from watching my mothers and fathers errors, I truthfully have some suggestion. My little brother, nonetheless, won't even flow to sleep in his very own mattress, so which you're a step forward there! If he falls asleep in my mothers and fathers mattress, they now and returned convey him to his mattress and he too sleep there till approximately evening, 3 am on the main modern-day. whilst he wakes up, he screams for mom or dad, then they convey him to their mattress. The few cases they tried letting him scream, it under no circumstances ended so as that they merely picked him up. one element you would be able to desire to attempt is transitioning slowly. My mothers and fathers have tried merely putting my brother's mattress of their room, so he could be napping on his very own yet of their presence. yet another element you would be able to desire to do, is sleep with him in his mattress for some nights if in any respect achievable to instruct him his room is nice too. What continuously encourages my little brother are sticky label-advantages charts. Award your son a sticky label for his blouse or regardless of and a small sticky label for his chart every time he sleep in the process the evening. Then, whilst he reaches a definite form of stickers (do not enable it drag out too long, you like him to work out the end results of his movements) you may advantages him with a particular trip or interest of a few style. i'm hoping those techniques help! stable luck!

Maybe you should talk to a family member or a pro. about it, and let it out so that it does not trap you in. Don't let fear beat you, you can do it. :)
