I have a good friend, a guy, who usually is supportive and listens to me in a way that my husband has never done. I dreamt that he developed a third ear between his cheek and large ear. I know it sounds repulsive, but it wasn't. It was small and slit-like. In my dream, I first noticed it at a gathering of his family---ex-wife, son, daughter, mother, sisters...
How would you interpret this?

You've pretty much already intepreted it. The third ear represents a "listening" ear, that's why it did not look like a regular ear. Because it's shape suggests that some would see his heart to listen as repulsive, but to you it is a source of relief and pleasure.

Is there something you have been telling him about his family that he refuses to hear? Maybe he is really considering what you are telling him from his heart.
Or...
Maybe someone in his family are telling him things about you that he has been hiding from you.
Or...
Maybe there is something in his family life that you really need to be be aware of for guidance in your own life.
