whats the difference between the regular imac program, and mac osx?

when i got my imac, i downloaded mac osx, i dont know what the difference is, can anyone tell me please?

An iMac is a desktop computer (Hardware), Mac OS X is Apple's operating system (Software).

imac has mac osx on it
imac is just the computers name

it's a newer version, with a couple updated features and more bug fixes.
