This is a very interesting question that I'm not sure how to answer. I understand the concept of surrendering your ego but it doesn't fit in my current understanding, so I will just tell you where I am with it. I will be checking these answers so I can learn more from those who are there. I have learned that for me, after years of doing battle with my ego that anything I fight or resist only gets stronger. There is no way to win, partly because my identification with it as me started so far back that I really thought it's voice was my voice. It is impossible to not follow a voice you really believe to be you, & then it can never be done without feeling sacrifice. I found the only way for me was to just surrender the battle, lay down my weapons, & walk off the field. Learning the how of doing that meant that, for me, I had to move my identification from the ego to the Spirit. I am in this process now, & much to my dismay & wonder I am beginning to see that I have been fighting a shadow.

No, I have an ego and I believe we should all have an ego. However, like most of thing in life too much is not good. There are plenty of people around who have egos big enough for several people. They should learn to control or tone down their ego

I didn't want to answer this but then I saw who ask it.
In a way my ego is surrendered, in the way that I don't allow it to control me. It still blames people and makes unfair comparisons but I learned what she's there for.
She's my mirror. I keep her under observation and when she pitches a fit I see where I need correction. She doesn't get to call the shots nor is she allowed to think she's me.
I thought not long ago that my ego was dead, and in a way she was because I ignored her. Ego attaches our spirit to our body. For it to be completely dead is to move on.
Great question.

no...there is a time for everything, my friend. even surrendering your ego. when i will be learned enough to surrender my Ego, i will. Just surrendering your ego without a commitment or a pledge or without a proper understanding of the "surrender", is just like deceiving yourself.
it will take time to remove that "I".
i have to be knowledgeable enough to remove that attachment with my ego.
:)

I'd say I was getting somewhere, but I don't think that I have fully surrendered it yet.
By getting somewhere, I mean I try to be more focused on helping others, even if I put myself through hell to do it. And also provided that by helping others I do not cause harm to anyone.
I still can be egocentric at times though.
May peace go with you throughout your life

Constantly. It's not something that you do just one time and it's over. There's always situations that arise that causes ones ego to try to take over. The "Me" is hard to put aside completely... ^_^ Though I do have to say that since being married and having a kid, my ego has shrunk considerably. lol

Ego? What ego? Only kidding. I am trying to install Eckhart Tolle's 'A New Earth' into my life....I find it is brilliant. I like this question.....much more to do with spirituality rather than religion!

i am willing, but it seems to have a strong hold on me-
i like to think maybe at times i have done this?!?
the good news is, i am at the point where i can see the difference between my true nature~my soul, and my ego- even if in retrospect.
so... it's not solely running the show- and that's a good thing!
