OK, my fiancee has a son who lives with his mom 6 hours away from us. He has a child support hearing in a few weeks, but it is in the city that is 6 hours away. They are threatening to arrest him if he doesn't show up! How can they do this? I spoke to my local child support enforcement agency and they told me if it is just a payment adjustment hearing then they will do what they do regardless of whether he's there. And furthermore, a lot of courts will arrange a phone conference for people who live over 100 miles away. Can ANYone with professional experience with this tell me how they expect someone who is already struggling with payment to take off of work to be in a city 6 hours away for 10:00am???

He needs an attorney. He can then get a phone conference or other means to settle it. My wifes ex did this and the distance was a lot closer.

If he has to go to court for a hearing or just go to court for anything bye law the person in question has to show or they will be charged for contempt of court and a warrent will be taken out for his arrest. Aswell he needs to get a lawyer.,

LOL--where did you hear this crap? Both parents have to show up...it shows the availability of both parents to the child. He will be arrested if it involes more than money...like perhaps if he did not pay.
