After highschool I really want to go to university in the gold coast i know there but like then well like i heard well the stuff is pretty expensive compared to canada where i live. Like not just clothing but like food as well. So i dont know how will it be like? I sure know its really beautiful there where the gold coast is but is there anything else that i should be concerned about?

It's OK for your age for a holiday and for the younger kids. The gold coast - Surfers paradise is generally a big party city, (Schoolies week is popular http://gold-coast.schoolies.org.au/) and for the surf and beaches.
Overrated in my book. A nice place to visit as a tourist but i wouldn't live there.

The Gold Coast is a tourist trap, with everything that implies. Expensive and tacky. Beautiful if you like rows of high rise buildings, which shade the beach in the afternoon. Surfers Paradise is the worst of it, but the blight extends along most of the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast is tacky, busy, touristy, expensive, full of crime and not the place I'd want my just graduated from high school daughter. Are you thinking of Bond University? Don't you have Uni's in Canada? Come over for a holiday first - don't make any rush decisions that you'll regret later.

Gold Coast is a mini Florida.

Why anyone would want to go to university on the Gold Coast when there are so many better universities in Australia, I don't know. I live just south of the GC and avoid it like the plague. If you are into hordes of tourists, tackiness and theme parks then it is the place for you. Don't expect to see me there.

It's a strip of coast about 50 km or so down from Brisbane that takes heaps of gold to be able to stay there.
