If you're over 16 and you haven't had them removed yet. They will cause you more misery than you can know. Get those suckers outta there, they do IV sedation to make it easier.

If you are having pain in that area or sensitivity, notice that your teeth are crowding-moving closer together or over the top of each other, they are in but are sideways. If you have any kind of pain in your molar area you need to have them checked. Not everyone has to have their wisdom teeth removed. Some people have room in their mouths for those teeth, most people do not. It is a common misconception that wisdom teeth have to come out. If you do not need them extracted make sure to brush really well in the back or you will get cavities :)

Your dentist will tell you if they need to come out. If you have pain, check into it. If you have perfect teeth, make sure they aren't coming in sideways because they can push all your straight teeth into a mess. I did it before braces so they knocked me out for the whole time and got it all done at once while I was sleeping.

From my experience, mine were not impacted, but I didn't have enough room for them. They got infected (or at least irritated) and I told my mother, so she made an appt at the dentist. He told me they needed to be yanked, and gave me a referral to an oral surgeon.
They were just bugging me, hurting, so that is when I knew.
