I have a 4 month old kitten and a 3 year old cat. The kitten is SO loud at night and drives us crazy. I am also pregnant and really need sleep and my irritability is worse. If you shut her out of the bedroom she scratches at the door and if you shut her in the bedroom she races all over the bed and digs her claws into our NEW bedspread. I swear shes on speed. If we leave the door open she is SO LOUD. What do I do???????

I forgot to ad, we are in a one bedroom apartment, so I either shut her out of the bedroom, or in it, those are my choices, so frustrating!

it seems like the kitty has a whole bunch of energy during the night. My sugguestions are this.... Get a toy, somethign that the kitty can play with herself and put it in yoru room. Note: Make sure the toy is a quiet toy, not bells or jingles. Hopefully, that will work if not, you can always train it into kitties to stay off the bed... Arm you bedside with a squirtgun or spray bottle and whenever she jumps on squirt her. The first couple nights will be hard, because you have to squirt her, but after that it shoudl be smooth sailing

I have a similar issue with my cat. How much stimulation does he get prior to bedtime? Keep him awake the ENTIRE time from the time you come home to the time you go to bed. He'll be exhausted and want to sleep. Close your closet doors and try to declutter your bedroom so he has nothing to play with. As for the face-licking thing......my kitty does this at either 3:30 AM or 5:00 AM. If I roll over, she'll walk across my back and lick the other side of my face. I still haven't found a solution for this, but at least she sleeps MOST of the night.

Play with her as much as possible for bedtime. Get a good cat toy from the store (like the sticks with feathers, bells, and what not on it). This should make her tired enough to be quiet when it is bedtime. Your best bet is probably doing that and then letting her stay in the bedroom with you.

Make sure that you keep her active during the day so that she goes to sleep at night, and give her a lot of attention as well, also keep her in a room separated from yours so that she can't do much damage (as said before).
Good luck!

Try getting a wind-up (old fashion) clock and putting it in her bed with her. That simulates her mama's heartbeat and may calm her down at night so she won't think she is alone. Also you may try getting her favorite stuffed animal and sleep with it for a night or two to get your scent on it and then slip it in with her when she goes to bed. I know this worked with our puppy so I think it should work with a kitty too! Good luck!

you can crate train the kitten until she gets older and more behaved (after she is spayed she will settle) i did this with mine and she went to sleep when i put her in her crate just make sure you feed her food and water about 2-3 hours before "bedtime" and let her use the litter box prior to putting her to bed...she will learn bedtime quickly

well do you have a place where you can open the light and put the kitten with the cat... put food and toys. I think the kitten is just lonely.

Get her tired during the day. If that doesn't help shut her in a room where she can't do much damage.
