There isn't a true average. But the standard deductible MOST of the time now, is $500. Some policies have as low as $100 or $50, some as high as $2500.

As a claims adjuster I see $500 and $1000 deductibles on HO claims. I don't see too many $250 deductibles any more since HO rates went through the roof a few years back.
Just make sure the one you pick is one that you can afford if you have a claim. I see a lot of people with damaged homes who don't have the $1000 deductible and then have to try to save the $1000 in order to have the repairs done correctly.

Most home owners assurance online deductibles start at $250; consequently if you raise your deductible from that to $1,000, you may be able to save about 25%! However keep in mind, your deductible is the amount that leaves your pocket at time a loss happens before your home owner ins on line agency begins to recompense, so certify you can afford your deductible if you ever have to claim damage.

depends on the area you live in. I'm in the coastal south east. In the upstate - deductibles range from 250.00 - 1000.00. On the coast, where hurricanes are a concern - deductibles are often a % of the loss.
