All depends on where you are. Brand names like Belvedere or Chopin are my favorite vodkas, and easy to get.
Wine is much more complex, red or white, sweet, pungent, full-bodied, its all what you like and dont forget price!
Generally this is a great way to go:
Cabernet Sauvignon- Full-bodied red wine, often dry or musky. Good brands include J Lohr, Kendall Jackson, Silver Oak, David Arthur many others
Chardonnay- White wine ranging from full-bodied to subtle flavor, often with what is described as a "buttery" taste brands include Kendall Jackson, J lohr, Beringer, Peter Michael......
Merlot- Sweet sometimes peppery red wine very versitile when paired with food....Renwood, Beaulieu, Duckhorn Chateu St Jean.....
Riesling- Very sweet, thick, easy to drink for a beginner, the best varietal (grape type) if you like white zinfandel (just a type of wine).....Trimbach, Gunderloch, Egon Muller, Fritz Haag.....
Shiraz (Syrah)- A pungent, flowery, peppery wine often from Australia or South Africa medium bodied.... Penfolds, Barossa Valley Estate, Waterford...
Sauvignon Blanc- Crisp, slighty acidic, dry light-bodied white wine with a floral bouquet (smell)....Araujo, Mason Cellars, Cloudy Bay, Thornbury....
Hope that helps, wine is a huge deal and you should always get help when searching....even if you are a pro :)

Up until 1999 eBay allowed the sale of wine on their site and that was the best place to buy a bottle. Each State has it's own shipping laws regarding alcohol, so depending on what State you live in, you may have to buy it at a State store or a licensed vendor within your state. If not, go to winecommune.com and you will find 1000's of wines for sale in an auction format just like eBay. You decide how much you want to pay and they have everything from a $20 bottle to a $5,000 bottle!
