Bounty hunters find people who have skiped bail, basically people who go to court can offer a sumof money to recieve bail. If they dont show up for the next case then the courts issue what is called a bail bond. Bounty hunters find the person and collect the bail bond which is transferable into cash!
Hardline crinimals such as murderers and serial rapists dont get bail only people who have commited smaller crimes and who arnt considered a direct threat to the public!

I am going to college for law enforcement and my teacher has studied the bail bonds system....What happens is some one that cannot bond out will call some one and they will go to a bondsman and they will work something out with the bond and lets just say that the guy had to pay 14000 dollars to get out...well the bonds man says i can get him out for 500 well the bonds man is responsible for the 13500 if the defendant skips out then they will hire bounty hunters or get them theirselves and the 500 dollars they made off of getting that person part of that money goes to the bounty hunter so really he only made about X amount of dollars out of the 500 after everything is said and done

By capturing & turning over another human being for a fee. It pays well. Like turning in bottles & cans that you have paid a deposit on, then you return the empties to get the deposit back. The only difference is that the Bounty Hunter never purchased them to begin with, so what they collect is a nice profit for their time & risking their lives. Not for everyone, but a nice living if you can hack it. The only thing that's more fun is to do it for free & avoid the paperwork!

There are three ways.
First they are the bail bondsmen themselves. They make money bonding people out of jail. When someone doesn't show up, they go after them. Doing this they don't actually make money as a bounty hunter, but it does stop them from losing money.
Second, they contract out as the enforcement section for bail bondsmen. They may be salaried or paid per person they bring in.
Third, they may go after people with rewards for their arrest.

Bounty hunters work for bail bondsmen, who gives them a commission for rounding up people who skipped on the bail the bondsman put out.

The bail bondsman pays the bounty hunter if the bail jumper is captured and returned.
When someone gets bail, he usually pays 10% of the bail amount to the bail bondsman. If the person on bail skips, the bail bondsman has to pay the full amount to the court.

Usually, the bondsman pays a bail agent a percentage of the bond for returning the bondee to custody. However, sometimes a bondsman will go after a skip themselves. Since the entire bond would be forfeit if the bondee doesn't show in court, it behooves the bondsman to pay someone a portion of that to avoid losing it all.

by catching bail jumpers and collecting the rewards. the down side is they opperate out side the law and dont care who gets hurt in the process. they often get it wrong and often hard the inocent. they regularly exceed the law by a great deal. they are often worse than the criminals
